For Crosby (For You #3) by J. Nathan Review

For Crosby (For You, #3)For Crosby by J. Nathan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

J. Nathan scores with FOR CROSBY, the third book in the For You series. Up-and-coming college hockey star, Crosby Parks, transfers to Alabama in hopes of escaping the media debacle his family left behind. He wants to keep a low profile before entering the NHL draft. Unfortunately, that is easier than it sounds, since his new team decides to tie him naked to a tree on his first day. Enter Sabrina Marshall, who finds him and keeps crossing his path. This contemporary sports romance in suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

J. Nathan does a nice job with both her plot and character development. The story is original and believable. I like that Crosby and Sabrina initially do not get along. I also, appreciated that Sabrina decides what major to declare, as a result, of all the things that happen with them. I felt bad for everything that Crosby went through. Some of the things that happened with his team were cruel. I’m glad Sabrina showed compassion and befriended Crosby. The two have amazing chemistry and fun conversations.

FOR CROSBY is a great example about not judging people because you have no idea what is going on with them. There are interesting twists to the story. It flowed well and held my attention from start to finish.

I have not read the other books in the For You series. I had no problem following this book without reading the other stories. The main characters from those books are friends with Sabrina, so they make numerous appearances in this story. I liked the characters and wouldn’t mind reading their novels: FOR FINLAY (For You, #1) and FOR FORESTER (For You, #2). People that enjoy reading new adult sports romances would enjoy FOR CROSBY. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Excerpt

He approached the chair beside my bed and dropped down into it, keeping his eyes trained on mine.
“Hi?”
A devious smirk tipped his lips as he placed the bag on the floor and lowered my tray table in the space between us. He reached inside the crinkly bag, letting his hand linger. I’d give him props. He definitely knew how to pique my curiosity. His hand slid out grasping a shot glass. His eyes stayed on mine as he placed it on the empty tray table in front of him. Then he reached back in and pulled out a second glass.
“Thirsty?”
A slow sexy smile skated across his lips as he slid the glass across the table in front of me. But he wasn’t done. He reached back in the bag and pulled out a full bottle of vodka.
“Seriously?” I laughed.
He nodded. “You scared?”
“Scared I’m gonna drink you under the table.”
He threw back his head and let loose a shoulder shaking laugh. So carefree. So comfortable. So unbelievably breathtaking.
But once it continued much longer than necessary, I crossed my arms over the UNC printed on my powder-blue T-shirt. “Are we playing a game or just trying to get sloppy drunk?”
His laughter subsided as he dug into his pocket and pulled out a quarter, holding it up so the fluorescent lights in my room reflected off it.
“So, we’re wagering?”
He nodded. “And with the pain meds getting the liquor to your head quicker, you being drunk off your ass is just an added bonus.”
I swallowed down. Hard.
“Now if I win…” He twisted his lips like he really needed to consider the stakes. “I get to give you a sponge bath.”
He said it so matter-of-factly, it threw me for a loop. Then again, it seemed like a win-win for me.
“If you win,” he continued. “You give me a sponge bath.”
“Who said I’d want to give you a sponge bath?” I totally did.
“Seriously? Have you seen me?”
I almost choked on the arrogance floating around the room. But in all honesty, I liked it. Too much. A guy who knew who he was and what he wanted turned me on. It’s what I was drawn to. What I normally sought out. I nodded toward the vodka. “Where’d you get it?”
“My buddy Avery smuggled it in.”
“All in an effort to get me drunk?”
His smile spread wide. “All in an effort to get you drunk and give you a sponge bath.”
“Ever think of just asking?”

Author Bio

I'm a total romance junkie! Add an alpha male who's unlikable in the beginning...even better. Happy endings are a must. Don’t leave me with an unexpected cliffhanger or someone dying in the end. I’ll be depressed for days. Love triangles and negative people are the bane of my existence. My family, friends, sangria, and watermelon margaritas are the light…

Since Drew by J. Nathan Review

Since DrewSince Drew by J. Nathan
My rating: 4 ½ of 5 Stars

Track star and Olympic hopeful, Andi Parker, is hospitalized with dream shattering injuries. While she is in the hospital, she meets college football quarterback, Drew Slater, the talk of the draft. Their encounter will change the course of their lives.

Since Drew is an amazing story with interesting twists. It has a different feel from most sports romances. It is mysterious and original. People that enjoy medical aspects would appreciate this book.

Drew is a great character. He is an amazing football player, but he has secrets. I like how J. Nathan introduces him to us. He is enigmatic and multifaceted. His friend Avery is great. Drew is fortunate to have him.

My heart went out to Andi. She was so close to her dream, only to have it stripped away from her in seconds. She is an amazingly strong heroine. She is persistent. About to graduate from UNC, she has no idea what to do with her life now that her Olympic dream is crushed. She has lived her whole life in pursuit of her goal, compromising her social life. I ran the 800-meter in high school, so I think it’s great that is her event. I’m glad she had Logan as a friend for support.

I love that Andi does not give up on Drew. He has had a difficult life. Drew’s dad is a piece of work. Everybody wants something from him. Andi and Drew were meant to meet each other.

The Epilogue is perfect. I couldn’t think of a better ending. I’m glad J. Nathan will be writing Avery and Logan’s stories. This is the first novel I read written by J. Nathan. She is a brilliant writer with a lot of talent.
