Break Your Pucking Heart (Ice Lords #1) by Rachel Leigh Review

Break Your Pucking Heart (Ice Lords #1)Break Your Pucking Heart by Rachel Leigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rachel Leigh scores with BREAK YOUR PUCKING HEART (Ice Lords #1).
Avery Castle finds herself in a dilemma when she overhears a conversation by her college rival’s hockey team. To make matters worse, she is discovered by team center Callan Cromwell. The boys who heart she broke in high school. Now, she is wrapped up in their world, and they have no intention of letting her get away.

Callan is the stepbrother of Brogan Astor from BEAUTIFUL DEVIL. Avery is Brogan’s best friend. Avery and Brogan attend Rosewood University (Devils). Callan attends the rival school, North Ridge University (Lords). Callan is in a secret society called the Ice Lords.

BREAK YOUR PUCKING HEART is a dark romance. It is filled with secrets and twists. It is skillfully written and thought-provoking. The characters are dimensional and complex.

The story ends in a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two, BEND THE PUCKING RULES. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

BRICK WALL (Bainbridge Hockey #3) by Andi Burns Review

Brick Wall: Bainbridge Hockey #3Brick Wall: Bainbridge Hockey #3 by Andi Burns
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Andi Burns gets a hat trick with book three in the Bainbridge Hockey series, BRICK WALL. BU Wolves starting goalie JT Norris falls for Maggie Baylor not knowing she is his coach’s niece.

I like that this story takes place at the same time as the previous books. It is interesting to see certain events and situations from a unique perspective.

Andi Burns does an impressive job with this story. The characters are dimensional and likeable. Neither JT nor Maggie had great parents. Maggie had a better support system growing up than JT. They have excellent chemistry and are a fun couple. They face captivating situations.

BRICK WALL is a terrific addition to the Bainbridge Hockey series. I look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

The Ice Match (The Roommates Duet #2) by Trinity Lemm Review

The Ice MatchThe Ice Match by Trinity Lemm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Trinity Lemm scores with THE ICE MATCH (The Roommates Duet #2). Cedar University students Dakota (Kota) Darling and Nicholas Crew have disliked each other since meeting. Fast-forward and their living arrangement gets messed up. They become roommates, along with their best friends, Bridget Bell and Lane Avery (THE PUCK ARRANGEMENT, The Roommates Duet #1). They have one rule: no hooking up.

Dekota and Crew are entertaining. Their pranks against each other were hilarious. They reminded me of my college days. Trinity Lemm does a great job with this enemies-to-lovers novel. Kota and Crew both grow throughout the story. I like how their relationship evolves as they get to know each other better.

Being a lifelong Chicago Blackhawks fan, I did appreciate that Crew was a Hawks prospect.

This is the first book that I have read by Trinity Lemm. I enjoyed her writing style. I plan on reading book one. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Iced (Walker University Wolves) by Cala Riley Review

IcedIced by Cala Riley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cala Riley scores with ICED (Walker University Wolves) Grace Myers has been in love with her best friend Kellan Cooper since their freshman year in high school. Now they are both attending Walker University. While Kellan has been a serial dater, Grace has not dated and is still a virgin.

Walker Wolves hockey captain Clayton James needs a tutor. He hires Grace. They initially rub each other wrong. However, the two become friends and start hanging out. Kellan becomes jealous and causes trouble with Clayton who is his teammate.

I like Clayton and Gracie. Clayton’s dad died when he was young. He feels a responsibility to his mom and sister. He is focused and a good captain. Grace is smart and hard working. She has been a better friend to Kellan than he has been to her. I love that Clayton and Grace become more social as a result of hanging out together. They are an adorable couple.

This is the first book that I have read by Cala Riley. I enjoyed her writing style. The characters are dimensional, and the story is believable. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, CROSS CHECKED. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Wicked Serve Grace Reilly

Wicked Serve by Grace Reilly is now live!

Get ready for your new obsession from TikTok sensation Grace Reilly, a spicy brother’s rival hockey romance! Perfect for fans of Hannah Grace, Liz Tomforde and Elsie Silver.

He’s my brother’s biggest hockey rival…but he’s bringing the heat for me.

Nikolai

Hockey is my life, and I need to make this last season count. But when I’m forced to transfer to rival school McKee University for my senior year, I risk pissing off the captain, who happens to be the older brother of Isabelle Callahan: the gorgeous beam of sunshine I messed around with in secret this summer.

Rekindling our fling could risk her brother icing me off the team—not to mention the fact that my scarred past makes having a real relationship impossible—and yet the moment I see Isabelle again, all my wild, burning feelings come rushing back.

Izzy

I have two goals for sophomore year: win back my old volleyball position, and forget I ever knew devilishly handsome hockey defenseman Nikolai Abney-Volkov. As the youngest and only daughter in a family full of athletes, failure isn’t an option.

But when Nik crashes back into my life, I can’t stay away from his broody charm. I’m determined to guard my heart this time, but between the furtive hookups and the heartfelt conversations, the lines between friends-with-benefits and more begin to blur.

As we fall deeper into a place we can’t come back from unscathed, we’ll have to make a choice: fight for a future together, or watch it go up in flames.

Filled with swoons, spice, sports, and koalas, Wicked Serve is a don’t-miss new adult college sports romance.

Wicked Serve (Beyond the Play #4) by Grace Reilly Review

Wicked Serve (Beyond the Play, #4)Wicked Serve by Grace Reilly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Grace Reilly scores with WICKED SERVE (Beyond the Play #4). Isabelle (Izzy) Callahan secretly dates her brother’s biggest hockey rival, Nikolai (Nik) Abney-Volkov, over the summer. She wants to put the relationship behind her and focus on volleyball. However, Nik transfers to her (and her brother’s) school, McKee University. They pretend they never knew each other and have a hard time resisting one another.

Grace Reilly does a great job with this story. Izzy and Nik have very different upbringings. They become good friends and confide in one another. My heart went out to Nik (and his mother) for what they endured. They face compelling situations. They have interesting family dynamics. I enjoyed their relationship. They have great chemistry and care for one another.

This is the first book that I have read by Grace Reilly. I did not have any issues following this story despite being the fourth book in the series. The previous books were Izzy’s brother’s stories. I enjoyed Grace Reilly’s writing style. I am interested in reading the other books in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Rule Breakers Fall Hardest by Micalea Smeltzer

Rule Breakers Fall Hardest by Micalea Smeltzer is now live!

Once upon a time, Daire Hendricks was my childhood crush. He was always there, saving me from his annoying brothers. He was my rock, my safe place from my overbearing family.

Until he wasn't.

Imagine my annoyance when we end up at the same university and I have to see his smug, too-handsome-for-his-own-good face all over campus.

Every time we cross paths, we spew hateful words at each other, so imagine my surprise when he seeks me out and utters the most surprising question.

"Marry me?"

He needs my help, and his solution is marriage. It's a pretty big ask, but somehow, I find myself saying yes. We might hate each other now, but the benefits of this arrangement are worth it.

But what neither of us expects, is when playing house starts to feel a little too real.

Falling for each other was never part of the plan, but you know what they say about the best laid plans?

They often go awry.

Rule Breakers Fall Hardest (The Boys #6) by Micalea Smeltzer Review

Rule Breakers Fall Hardest (The Boys, #6)Rule Breakers Fall Hardest by Micalea Smeltzer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Micalea Smeltzer has a game-winner with RULE BREAKERS FALL HARDEST (The Boys #6). Aldridge University Hockey player Daire Hendricks askes his former best friend and current nemesis Rosie Thomas to marry him to help him get custody of his son.

Micalea Smeltzer does a great job with this story. Daire and Rosie used to be best friends. I love that they get a second chance to rectify their relationship. They had misunderstandings and finally talked things out. They face interesting situations and grow throughout the novel. They face unforeseen circumstances. I appreciated how protective they were of one another.

RULE BREAKERS FALL HARDEST was skillfully written and entertaining. It is an excellent addition to The Boys series. I am looking forward to Bertie and Luke’s story next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Hockey is my life. I play hard, and I don’t lose. The Frozen Four is at my fingertips, but my eligibility is at risk thanks to one frustrating class. Enter Avery Dalton—beautiful, independent, and utterly off limits. She’s my coach’s daughter and his choice for a tutor. Too bad she isn’t interested… Until she offers me a secret deal her dad can never find out about. She’ll help me pass, and I’ll help her forget about her ex. Friends with very specific benefits. Except for one little problem—I can’t stop trying to win her heart.

Avery

I don’t date hockey players. I don’t befriend them or kiss them in the library either. No one told Cole Mathis that. His perfect good looks and golden boy reputation are everything I should avoid after my last disastrous ex, but when he needs my help, I offer him a deal. Staying detached should be easy, but my weakness is apparently a hockey playing country boy with a wicked sense of humor and a talented mouth. As we get closer, I cling to my rules and hope he doesn’t figure out the truth—he's the one person who could break me.

ICE COLD HEART (Beyond the Ice #2) by Nikki Hall

Ice Cold Heart (Beyond the Ice #2)Ice Cold Heart by Nikki Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikki Hall scores with ICE COLD HEART (Beyond the Ice #2). Teagan University hockey star Cole Mathis has met his dream girl. Unfortunately, she turns out to be the coach’s daughter and his new tutor, Avery Dalton. Despite the risks, he wants to win her over. However, Avery was burned in the past. As a result, she is anti-relationship.

Cole is the roommate of Gavin King and Eva Adams from ICE COLD PLAYER (Beyond the Ice #1). He is Henry’s faithful duck-sitter. Henry once again plays a role in this story.

Cole is a lovable hero. He is a sweet country boy that is persistent in his pursuit of Avery. He slowly breaks down her defenses. Avery is understandably resistant in opening herself up again and risk getting hurt.

Nikki Hall does a great job with this story. The characters are well developed. There are captivating conflicts. It is skillfully written and entertaining. It is an excellent addition to the Beyond the Ice series. I look forward to Reece’s story next, ICE COLD RIVAL. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Blurb:

I never looked back the day I left Sunset Drive. If I did, I knew that I would never leave the hellhole I had grown to despise, a place I began plotting my escape from as a child. The only difference was that I always thought she’d be by my side on the day I was finally free.

The day I left it all behind was the day my hatred for the entire Wilson family was born. Poppy included. After all, she had lied to the police just to protect her monstrous father after he got my parents killed. From that day forward, I decided she needed to be dead to me. They all did. The only thing that mattered from then on was the one thing that had never let me down. Hockey.

She may haunt me in my dreams during those three years we were apart, but that was nothing compared to now when I’m forced to see her at Brooks University. Slowly, my grip on everything else in my life begins to slip away as she becomes the only thing that matters. And when I find her in an alleyway, battered and bruised from two attackers who vow to return for her…I decide right then that I am going to protect her at all costs.

But protecting her means making a deal with the devil, also known as my rich uncle. A deal that will mean I will never get the chance to spend forever with the only girl I’ve ever loved. Poppy Wilson.

It’s a high price to pay, but when it comes to her safety, I have no limits.

LAST BOY (The Puck Boys of Brooks University #7) by Hannah Gray

Last Boy (The Puck Boys of Brooks University, #7)Last Boy by Hannah Gray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hannah Gray is on a winning streak with LAST BOY (The Puck Boys of Brooks University #7). This is Walker James’ and Poppy Wilson’s story.

We first met Poppy in book four, CHOSEN BOY. Poppy is Sutton Savage’s roommate and nemesis. Walker is a freshman starting center on the hockey team. He and Poppy grew up in the same trailer park. They were everything to each other. Then Walker’s parents died of an overdose from drugs sold to them by Poppy’s dad. They had not seen each other in three years. Now they are going to the same college.

This story overlaps with some of the earlier books in this series. It was interesting discovering Poppy’s past and learning why she acted the way she did. For the last three years Walker and his sister have been raised by his rich uncle. The man is a manipulative and selfish bully. He makes a significant antagonist. Poppy and Walker have many issues to work out. I love that they get a second chance. They are amazing characters with lots of depth.

Hannah Gray does an amazing job with this story. It made me laugh and cry. It is skillfully written and thought provoking. It was the perfect addition to The Puck Boys of Brooks University series.

I am looking forward to Walker’s sister Briar’s and Hudson’s story, RUTHLESS. I am also highly anticipating her spin off, Logan Sterns’ book, TELL ME LIES (New England Bay Sharks #1). I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Puck Boy by Ruby Wolff

Puck BoyPuck Boy by Ruby Wolff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruby Wolff gets a hat trick with PUCK BOY. In this story, Bianca (Bea) Foster plans on using Travis Parker to ruin his father. As she gets to know him, she discovers he might hate his dad more than she does. As she gains feeling for Travis, she wonders if she can trust him with her past.

Travis and his roommates Logan Miller (GOAL BOY) and Blake Carter (RICH BOY) are known as the Vipers. They are rich boys who want to destroy their fathers because they hurt their families. You could probably follow PUCK BOY as a standalone, but I would recommend reading RICH BOY and GOAL BOY first. Those are Logan’s and Blake’s stories. Their lives impact each other.

Ruby Wolff does an amazing job with this story. It is dark and may trigger some people. My heart went out to Travis and Bea for what they both went through. The two have amazing chemistry and are good together. PUCK BOY is skillfully written and thought provoking. Ruby Wolf did an amazing job of weaving these books together. I am looking forward to the Crawford Brothers’ story book one DARKNESS expected to be released December 31, 2024. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Winning Play (Tampa Suns Hockey #4) by Robyn M. Ryan Review

Winning Play: Tampa Suns Sports Romance (Tampa Suns Hockey Book 4)Winning Play: Tampa Suns Sports Romance by Robyn M. Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Robyn M. Ryan gets a home run with WINNING PLAY. Kim Martin relocates from Vancouver to Tampa to go to grad school at Florida Coastal University (FCU). She is the younger sister of David Martin (HEALTHY SCRATCH, Tampa Suns Hockey series #1). Kim has recently gotten out of a bad relationship and has sworn off dating.

Captain of the FCU baseball team Chatham Spencer is focused on leading the team to a second chance at the national title. He is also taking extra classes to complete his major. He has no time for a relationship.

Kim and Spence meet at a Tampa Suns game and then again, on move-in day. They befriend each other, fight their attraction to each other, and eventually begin to rethink their decision. Meanwhile, Kim’s ex is not ready to give up, and Spencer has issues with the team to deal with.

Robyn M. Ryan does an excellent job with this story. The characters are likable and face interesting obstacles. It is a heartfelt read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
