Forgotten (House of Night Other World #3) by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

Publisher: Blackstone Publishing
Release Date: October 29th 2019
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Synopsis:

Before he was freed by Neferet, Kalona was imprisoned within the earth for centuries because of the Darkness in his heart. But what happened to the Other World’s Kalona? It’s as though he’s been forgotten, or maybe he never existed at all …

In the present, Other Neferet may have left her House of Night, but she has far from given up her goal of immortality and world domination. As she operates in secret to gain access to Old Magick, the new High Priestess, Anastasia Langford, works toward peace and acceptance for the vampyres of the Other World. But just as Other Kevin’s broken heart will take time to heal, peace in that world will also take time and work—and not all of the Other World vampyres want peace. After all, why should they return to being shunned by humans, especially when they’ve had a taste of how it feels to be in power?

Meanwhile, Zoey is desperate to help rid the Other World of Neferet once and for all, and not knowing what’s going on over there is eating away at her. But, as the Nerd Herd warns, it’s far too dangerous to call on Old Magick time and again. As a distraction, she throws herself into her work and attempts to bring the humans and vampyres of Tulsa closer together with the first human-vampyre swim meet in history! It’s too bad that something always seems to go wrong whenever the stakes are high.

What happens when worlds clash and powers that should be left alone are awakened? Can Other Kevin and his world heal from the wounds Neferet continues to inflict? Can Old Magick ever truly be harnessed and used for good? Or will Darkness extinguish Light and leave our heroes broken, hopeless, and as forgotten as Kalona of the Silver Wings? Don’t miss this second to last volume in the House of Night Other World saga!

Forgotten (House of Night Other World #3) by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast Review

Forgotten (House of Night Other World, #3)Forgotten by P.C. Cast
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forgotten (House of Night Other World #3) by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast is unforgettable. Forgotten begins with Kalona’s and Erebus’ story in the mirrored realm of Mother Earth. I really enjoyed the back and forth between the two worlds. It was interesting to see the differences in the two realms and causes and effects.

I enjoyed the characters. I have appreciated reading how the characters have grown since Marked (House of Night, #1). I found it fascinating when they interacted with the characters in the other realm, especially with the characters that died in their realm.

P.C. and Kristin Cast do a great job with this novel. It is creative and skillfully written. I like the changes that Zoe implemented in the school. The story had an intriguing ending that makes me look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.

Loved (House of Night Other World #1) by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast Review

Loved (House of Night Other World, #1)Loved by P.C. Cast
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

P.C. and Kristin Cast create an amazing spin-off series starting with Loved (House of Night Other World #1). Stark reunites the nerd herd for Zoey’s eighteenth birthmas (Birthday on Christmas Eve). Simultaneously, they are getting signs that evil is lurking, and they need to fight off zombie red vampires. This story takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I love the House of Night Series and was thrilled when I discovered that P.C. and Kristin Cast were coming out with a spin-off series. I was not disappointed with this thrilling first book. I loved that the nerd herd were reunited. I enjoyed the humor in the story. The politics in the story were interesting. It was full of action. The plot was original and skillfully executed. I recommend this book to followers of the HON series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.

Scarlet Rain (The Escaped #2) by Kristin Cast Review

Scarlet Rain (The Escaped, #2)Scarlet Rain by Kristin Cast
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Alek, immortal son of the Furies, was tasked to recapture the creatures that escaped Tartarus and ventured into the Mortal Realm. He is helped by Eva Kostas, the new Oracle. This new adult fantasy takes place in Tartarus and Tulsa.

Let me preface this review with, when I started reading the book, I did not realize it was the second book in the series. I could follow the story with no problem, but it is possible I would have enjoyed it more if I read the Book one, Amber Smoke, first.

I liked the characters. Eva recently learned that she is the new Oracle and is still discovering her powers. She deals with a lot in a short amount of time. Alex is brave and determined. The two have good chemistry. I like that detective James Graham follows his instincts and helps Eva and Alex. Bridget is an excellent friend. The characters are believable and well developed.

There were a few times that the story did not hold my interests, and I found myself skimming. I love Greek mythology, so I am always interested contemporary stories base on the myths. Kristin Cast does a good job of incorporating the old with the new.

Published by: Diversion Books
Publication date: June 9th 2015
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal

Synopsis:

The door to the massive New York Times bestselling HOUSE OF NIGHT series has closed.  Now, Kristin Cast kicks down a new door to welcome her millions of fans to her latest sizzling series.
There is a world that runs parallel to our own, a world in which the souls of the damned are caged, where they are looked over by the Furies, and where they spend eternity in torment, mirroring the devastation and mayhem they created when alive.
Someone has opened the cage.
The worst of terrors has crossed the barrier that separates our world from theirs, and the Furies send a great, albeit untested warrior—their only son, Alek—to try to bring those souls back.  He is young and handsome, headstrong and impulsive, and he won’t be able to do it alone.
Eva has grown up, beautiful and beloved, but surrounded by secrets.  First, she will be hunted in an ancient feud that will threaten her life.  Then, she will become the hunter.
With the police closing in and two worlds on the verge of crumbling around them, Alek and Eva must find each other, discover the limits of their powers, and work together to save everything they hold dear, including one another.  Blending elements of mythology with the dazzling storytelling that her fans have devoured through the HOUSE OF NIGHT series, Kristin Cast weaves a spellbinding and passionate tale that starts a thrilling new series with an explosive charge.
