Trainwrecks & Back Checks (Slapshot #6) by Heather C. Myers Review

Trainwrecks & Back Checks (Slapshot #6)Trainwrecks & Back Checks by Heather C. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heather C. Myers hits it into the net with TRAINWRECKS & BACK CHECKS, the sixth book in the Slapshot series. Defenseman Art Jackman helps his neighbor, Chloe Summers, with her stalker ex-boyfriend. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. It takes place in Newport Beach, California.

I like Art and Chloe. They are an unlikely couple that would have probably never had met if they didn’t live next door to each other. They don’t really know each other but are observant of each other being neighbors. Because of being watchful, Jackman notices some behaviors that cause him to be protective of Chloe. I appreciated that he acted instead of just ignoring the signs in front of him.

I love that Art comes into Chloe’s life. She really didn’t have anyone. Her situation could have been catastrophic without Art getting involved. Chloe’s ex broke her confidence and was the textbook example of an abuser. She’s understandably embarrassed with her situation but opens to Art. Chloe has just as much impact on Art’s life as he does in hers. He was a loner with his own issues. They come into each other’s lives at the right time.

TRAINWRECKS & BACK CHECKS is a heartwarming and overcoming read. It is well-written and a great addition to the Slapshot series. I recommend this story to people that enjoy contemporary sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
