If You Hate Me (Toronto Terror #1) by Helena Hunting Review

If You Hate Me: A Brother's Best Friend Hockey RomanceIf You Hate Me: A Brother's Best Friend Hockey Romance by Helena Hunting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Helena Hunting lights the lamp with IF YOU HATE ME (Toronto Terror #1). Beatrix (Rix) Madden temporarily moves in with her older brother Phillip (Flip) and his best friend/NHL teammate Tristan Stiles after she quits her job and moved out of her apartment. The problem is Rix and Tristan hate each other.

Rix, Flip, and Tristan grew up together. Rix was the annoying little sister who was always tagging along. Flip and Tristan currently play for the Toronto Terror. Rix is an accountant, but her passion is sports nutrition.

Rix and Flip grew up poor. They both have financial insecurities. Tristan’s mother deserted his family when he was young leaving him with abandonment issues. Rix and Tristan constantly fight. They are attracted to each other and finally give into their hormones. The characters face some interesting situations and grow throughout this story. I love Rix and Tristan. They are wonderful characters.

IF YOU HATE ME is skillfully written and heartfelt read. It is an amazing start to the Toronto Terror series. I like that Helena Hunting referred to characters in her other series in this novel. I am looking forward to Hollis and Hammer’s story IF YOU WANT ME. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
