Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It has been discovered by some that Kate is Roland’s missing daughter. Now the pack and those closest to Kate are in danger.
I feel like it’s been awhile since I read a Kate Daniels book. I remembered that I love the series, but I forgot how amazing and creative her world is. Ilona Andrews continue to blow me away.
Kate is an amazing heroine. She is strong physically, magically, and mentally. She has had a difficult life being trained as a killer. However, she is compassionate despite her upbringing. Some would view this as a weakness. I view it as a strength.
I love Kate’s mate, Curran Lennart. He is the ultimate alpha male. He appreciates Kate’s sacrifices for him and is willing to do the same for her. As a couple, Kate and Curran balance each other well.
We get to know Kate’s father, Roland better in Magic Breaks. He seems to be proud of Kate, despite wanting to kill her. He is an unparalleled and powerful nemesis.
The plot was thrilling. It was full of action and surprises. There is so much going on: murder investigation, pack politics, and impending war to name a few. Oh and for the record, the bunnycat scene cracked me up. The book was intense and kept me enthralled. Kate Daniels fans will not be disappointed with Magic Breaks. If you love paranormal and urban fantasies and have not tried the Kate Daniels Series, you need to pick up the first book Magic Bites. I would definitely read them in order.
