Blitzing Emily A Love and Football Novel By: Julie Brannagh Tour: Interview, Review, & Giveaway

Blitzing Emily

A Love and Football Novel
Julie Brannagh

Releasing Jan 7th, 2014

Blurb
All is fair in Love and Football...

Emily Hamilton doesn't trust men. She's much more comfortable playing the romantic lead on stage in front of a packed house than in her own life. So, when NFL star and irresistible ladies' man Brandon McKenna acts as her personal white knight, she has no illusions he'll stick around. However, a misunderstanding with the press throws them together in a fake engagement that yields unexpected (and breathtaking) benefits.
Every time Brandon calls her "Sugar," Emily almost believes Brandon's playing for keeps, not just to score. Can she let down her defenses and get her own Happily Ever After?
Julie hasn't quite achieved the goal of owning a pro football team, so she created a fictional one: The Seattle Sharks. When she's not writing, she's reading, or armchair-quarterbacking her favorite NFL team from the comfort of the family room couch. Julie is a Golden Heart finalist and the author of four contemporary sports romances.

Interview:

I would like to welcome and thank Julie Brannagh for taking the time to answer the following author interview questions.

What is your favorite part of the story, BLITZING EMILY?

My favorite part of BLITZING EMILY is a toss-up between the opening -- Brandon rescues Emily from wiping out on the ice at the Sharks practice facility -- and the ending. I don't want to spoil the ending for those who haven't read the book yet, but every woman cherishes the moment the man she loves finally gets down on one knee and says those four little words: Will you marry me? Years later, she's still smiling at the memory!

How long did it take you to write BLITZING EMILY?

The first draft took about two months. Revisions were quite a bit longer. I'm going to say nine months.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I had always wanted to write a book, but I wasn't sure how to start. I read an article about National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) a few years ago and finished a 50,000 word manuscript as a result. It was a huge achievement for me. I wrote BLITZING EMILY shortly afterwards!

Who or what inspired you to be a writer?

The greatest inspirations for any writer typically come from the books you've read throughout your life. Most writers are voracious readers. I have to thank Louisa May Alcott, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Charlotte Bronte and so many other authors who nurtured my imagination as I read and re-read their work!

What books have most influenced your life?

Little Women. Jo (the heroine) was writing towards publication during a time in history when women were discouraged from doing so. She also dared to live her life on her own terms. The biggest non-fiction influence on my life is a book called The Aladdin Factor, written by the guys who wrote Chicken Soup for the Soul. The Aladdin Factor encourages each of us to be courageous enough to ask for what we need in life.

What is your typical day like?
My typical day might be fairly boring to most people. I get out of bed, put some clothes on, and sit down at the computer to write. Our cats usually keep me company in my office.  When I'm not working on a manuscript, I'm doing some critiquing for my critique group (The Cupcake Crew) or making sure the business responsibilities of an author get addressed.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

Take a shower! Most readers would be amazed to know how many great ideas happen while a writer is in the shower. Another great solution for writer's block is housework.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I'm just finishing up CATCHING CAMERON, which will be out in May of 2014. My pro football player hero, Zach Anderson, has been avoiding his sideline reporting heroine, Cameron Ondine, for the past ten years. Their deepest secret is about to become public: Once upon a time, they were married. For three days. Zach thought it was over, but it really wasn't...

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

There's hundreds of hardcover and paperback books at our house. The best Christmas present my husband ever gave me, though, was a Kindle. I was worried at first I wouldn't like reading on a device. I think it took me an hour to get used to the Kindle, and now I prefer e-books! He gave me a Paperwhite last Christmas, so I donated my (well-loved) Kindle to a family friend.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you so much for reading BLITZING EMILY. I hope you'll love it as much as I loved writing Brandon and Emily's story! If you'd like to know more about me, I'm at www.juliebrannagh.com, on my Facebook author page, or find me on Twitter at @julieinduvall!
