INTERCEPTING DAISY by Julie Brannagh: Giveaway

Her heart may be in more danger than her job.

INTERCEPTING DAISY
Love & Football #6
Julie Brannagh
Released Sept 6th, 2016
Avon Impulse

From USA Today bestselling author Julie Brannagh comes the next fun and incredibly sexy novel in her beloved Seattle Sharks series.

When Daisy Spencer wrote an erotic novella about the Seattle Sharks' backup quarterback and her #1 crush, Grant Parker, she never expected it to become a runaway bestseller. If anyone discovers she wrote the sexy story, her days as a flight attendant for the Sharks would be over. But once she gets to know the real man behind the fantasy, her heart may be in more danger than her job.

Having Seattle fans think squeaky clean Grant is wild in bed is the last thing he needs-even if it might be closer to the truth than he will ever say. As he spends his days, and nights, with the gorgeous Daisy, he's not interested in going back to the lonely life he once led. But when the real author of the novella is finally outed, Grant and Daisy must both reveal the secrets they've hidden away or risk losing a love that's better than any fantasy.

Grant Parker heard a loud crack as he rolled over in his date’s bed and onto something buried in the sheets. He looked at the sleeping form next to him and sighed in relief when she didn’t stir.
He extracted an e-reader from under one of his hips as he sat up and stared at a large horizontal fracture in the screen in the dim light from her bathroom. Crap. Grant couldn’t remember her name, but he was willing to bet she remembered his. Even more, she was probably going to be pissed about the broken e-reader.
Shaking his head to clear out some of the cobwebs, he knew he needed to get his ass out of here. He had a hundred bucks in his wallet. He’d leave the money to replace the e-reader (along with a note) ten seconds before he walked out the front door of her apartment. Still too drunk to drive, he would call Uber as soon as he got outside.
He’d met her at a bar last night. She was exactly what he’d wanted: a woman who wanted one night with him. They’d had a lot of drinks, and they’d taken a cab to her place. Minutes later, they were naked. He’d had her twice before they both fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. He wondered what the biggest aphrodisiac was for the women who fucked his brains out on a regular basis: that he played pro football or that they were delighted to discover he was an excellent lay. She’d have several orgasms to remember him by.
The Sharks’ PR department worked overtime to craft his squeaky-clean image. Grant had arrived in Seattle as a result of being drafted out of his small, conservative Christian college’s football team. The Sharks had cut their former backup QB after a DUI and a sexual assault arrest. Grant was in the right place at the right time. Grant’s parents were also the nationally known pastors of a megachurch in Texas, which seemed to seal the deal for the Sharks.
It was clear in Grant’s combine interview with the team’s head coach and the general manager that any hint of bad behavior in his personal life would not be tolerated. The team believed Grant’s background and football skills would go a long way to smoothing things over with angry fans. Grant wanted to play for Seattle. It was the perfect situation.
The Sharks’ PR department circulated pictures of him to the local media with approved dates—girls from the local Christian college, for instance. He’d take them to dinner and a movie or a game. He’d walk them to their front door by ten pm, kiss them on the cheek, and make sure they were safely inside before he got in his car and went looking for what he really wanted: raw, anonymous sex with someone he knew he had no intention of seeing again.
He didn’t lie to anyone he was with. He had told each woman before they went to her place that he was in for one night and one night only. He told them he didn’t have sex without protection, which he provided. They nodded, smiled, and tried every sexual enticement in their arsenal to change his mind. It seemed that the women he dated always wanted what they could not have. If he met someone who boinked his brains out and told him to leave as soon as he got dressed, he’d be back for more. So far, it hadn’t happened.
He knew he was playing with fire for being so public. He knew he should find a woman who was interested in a mutually beneficial (and highly confidential) arrangement. He wasn’t callous or cavalier toward anyone else’s feelings. He just wasn’t interested in getting tied down to anyone, at least in the short term. If he got caught having multiple one-night stands, his carefully constructed image would blow up in his face, and any chance he had of succeeding Tom Reed, the Sharks’ starting QB, would be gone.
He understood his behavior could be chalked up to doing the forbidden, to the idea he was getting away with something he shouldn’t do. What kind of idiot would jeopardize eight million dollars a season for standing on the sidelines with a clipboard sixteen Sundays a year by taking such a risk? The Sharks organization wanted their fans to believe Grant spent his evenings with his playbook and turned in early. Alone. Preferably after reading a few pages of the Bible and saying his prayers. He was a normal, healthy guy with a normal, healthy sex drive. Was this a crime?
Grant wanted to watch the Sharks’ starting QB Tom Reed on the sidelines holding a clipboard as Grant threw TD after TD. He wanted to be the guy in the hundred-foot-tall mural screen painted on the side of Sharks Stadium. He also wanted to be the guy who’d get his pick of twice as many women who all wanted to do him. After all, the ladies wanted the real thing: a starter.
He clicked on the small button that activated the e-reader. It still worked, despite the cracked screen. He saw the title of the last book she was reading, Overtime Parking; a picture of him crossing the tarmac at an airport to get on the Sharks’ team plane was on the cover.
He’d been the subject of a lot of press, but someone had written a book about him? He hadn’t seen this yet. He was surprised his agent or the team publicist hadn’t told him about it. He’d have to call them both tomorrow. Maybe he should take a look at a page or two to figure out if this was an unauthorized biography.
He touched the unbroken part of the screen with his fingertip, and the text appeared.
And I shoved Parker’s football pants down with both hands. He was naked beneath and sporting a gigantic erection.
“Want it?” he said.
“Yes.” I unzipped my jeans and wriggled until both jeans and underwear slipped to my knees. I unhooked my bra and pushed my sweater up around my neck. I lay back on the hood of his car in the team’s parking lot, spreading my legs, entirely exposed to him. In full view of anyone walking past. The parking lot was full of cars; it was a matter of time before we were discovered.
I reached down to touch myself, to move my fingers in the wetness I felt dripping out of me. I wanted to show him I could come from staring at him and stroking my clit. I wanted him to see it all and to want me as badly as I wanted him.
“Fuck me,” I said.
He yanked my jeans and my panties off and pushed my legs up over his shoulders. I couldn’t concentrate on anything besides his arms caging me, his mouth on mine, his hard, massive dick entering me seconds later. I arched into him, my nipples scraping against his rock-hard chest. He grabbed my ass to pull me into his pistoning hips. Somehow, it was even more thrilling to know we might have an audience, and I ground into him as a result.
“Oh, God. Fuck me! I have to have you!” I told him as I moved against him. He pounded into me, over and over. I heard flesh slapping against flesh and the muffled groans of satisfaction deep in his throat. I wrenched my mouth from his, raked my nails down his back, and let out a loud cry.
“More!” I cried out. “Harder!”
“Oh, I’ll give it to you harder,” he growled as he thrust again. I wrapped my legs around his hips as tightly as I could. My clit rubbed against his pelvis as I moved against him. The hood of his car was cold but slippery against my back. It was going to be covered with our juices by the time we were done. There was nothing like the smell of sex; it surrounded us in the cold night air. I reached down to grab his ass with both hands, pulling him closer.
“Faster,” I cried. “More!”
“I’ll give you more,” he said roughly. “I’m going to fuck you, and then I’m going to fuck you again. Right here. Where everyone can see us. They’ll know how dirty you are, how badly you want it. How you’d fuck them too.”
He was breathing hard. He thrust faster, and I could feel myself coming, lust and adrenaline coursing through my bloodstream as I reached between us to rub my clit. “That’s it,” he said. “You want it. You want everyone to see you coming all over me, don’t you? Come for me. Come now.”
I let out a scream as my entire body convulsed around him. The waves of pleasure and release went on and on. I must have blacked out for a few seconds; I could hear applause and whistles as I came to. I saw a knot of guys a few feet from us; I was beyond caring that I was laid out like a naked, panting feast in front of them. I was limp in his arms, and he grinned down at me. He turned, made a slight bow to the onlookers, and turned back to me. His dick was already getting hard again as I watched.
“Ready for round two?” he said. “I’m going to do every nasty thing to you you’ve ever dreamed of. In front of them. And you’re going to love every minute of it.”
Grant stared in shock at the broken e-reader’s screen. What the hell was this?

Intercepting Daisy (Love and Football #6) by Julie Brannagh Review

Intercepting Daisy (Love and Football #6)Intercepting Daisy by Julie Brannagh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Julie Brannagh’s INTERCEPTING DAISY is an entertaining addition to the Love and Football Series. Shark’s flight attendant, Daisy Spencer, writes an erotic novella staring her favorite backup quarterback, Grant Parker, under a pen name. She doesn’t expect the book to end up on the best-seller list. Furthermore, she doesn’t expect Grant to ask her out and the subsequent guilt she feels from not telling him she authored the blockbuster he stars in. This contemporary sports romance primarily takes place in Seattle. It is suitable for adult audiences.

I enjoyed Grant’s character. He is the son of nationally known pastors. The Shark’s PR team portrays him as a sweet and saintly boy next door when dating, when, in reality, he is a one-night-stand kind of guy. That being said he is always upfront with the women he is with. I felt bad for him; he doesn’t have the best relationship with his parents. Plus, he doesn’t do anything wrong other than not actually play the part of the image the Shark’s PR team created for him. Quite honestly, I didn’t really think it was fair for the PR team to do that, but considering the circumstances that lead to it; it is understandable. Grant is a likeable character.

Daisy gets herself in a bind. She is a really nice person; that is a fun and hardworking flight attendant. She writes her fantasy and decides to publish it on Amazon. If she realized the ramifications, I doubt she would have done it. This story shows that even the nicest people make mistakes.

Reporter, Harley McHugh, caused some interesting controversy in the story. This also backs up my previous statement about nice people making mistakes (cough…Grant).

I love that the characters from the previous books are in this story. The Sharks are like a family and have a great bond.

INTERCEPTING DAISY was well-written and believable. The characters are likeable and credible. Julie Brannagh continues to do a great job with the Love and Football Series.

CHASING JILLIAN by Julie Brannagh: Giveaway

Chasing Jillian
Love and Football # 5
By: Julie Brannagh
Releasing July 7, 2015
Avon Impulse

Jillian Miller likes her job working in the front office for the Seattle Sharks, but lately being surrounded by a constant parade of perfection only seems to make her own imperfections all the more obvious. She needs a change, which takes her into foreign territory: the Sharks’ workout facility after hours. The last thing she expects is a hot, grumbly god among men to be there as witness.

Star linebacker Seth Taylor had a bad day-well, a series of them recently. When he hits the Sharks’ gym to work out his frustration, he’s startled to find someone there-and even more surprised that it’s Jillian, the team owner’s administrative assistant. When he learns of Jillian’s mission to revamp her lifestyle, he finds himself volunteering to help. Something about Jillian’s beautiful smile and quick wit makes him want to stick around. She may not be like the swimsuit models he usually has on his arm, but the more time Seth spends with Jillian the harder he falls.

And as Jillian discovers that the new her is about so much more than she sees in the mirror, can she discover that happiness and love are oh-so-much better than perfect?

Excerpt

She hurried over to the laptop on the little desk in the kitchen, pulled up Google, and searched on Seth’s name. She sank into a chair while she read. He was six foot four, and she practically weighed as much as he did. Well, not quite, but still. She let out a long sigh. He was two years younger than she was. It also seemed Seth had been busy: He was single. “Very single,” according to one of the most recent fan websites she looked at. In Google Images, she found a series of photos of him with multiple tall, dark-haired women, each more gorgeous than the last.
Jillian shut the laptop lid with an irritated “click”, got up from her chair, and hurried into the bathroom. She’d stood in front of a full-length mirror so many times, but it always showed her the same thing. She wasn’t unattractive, but she could use a little more self-confidence and a lot more toning.  She wasn’t asking for physical perfection, but she’d like to make some changes. If she made a plan, started slowly and kept at it, she’d see a difference.  The biggest changes needed to start on the inside, though. Maybe if she got out a little more, she might meet a guy that was interested in her. Seth was gorgeous, but he wasn’t really in her universe. Jillian went into the kitchen, grabbed a frozen low-calorie dinner out of the freezer, ripped the cardboard lid off, and shoved it into the microwave. Dinner would taste a whole lot better if it was accompanied by half a bag of chips and some Ranch dip. But that wasn’t an option right now. She opened the refrigerator door to look for a fresh vegetable of some type.
She pushed the fridge door shut after a fruitless search and rummaged around in her apartment’s tiny pantry. She located a can of peas. Peas were good. Plus, there weren’t many calories in peas. Maybe she could fill up on them if the diet dinner didn’t cut it.
Jillian’s love-hate relationship with her body and food had started when she was little.  Most of the time, there wasn’t enough to eat. She ended up in a foster home at three years old after her mother died in a car wreck, and she was moved a few times before she entered elementary school. Things got a little better for Jillian when she was placed in a more permanent foster home, but she was still so hungry. No matter how much she ate, she wanted more.  When she was old enough to make her own money, she made sure there was more than enough, and that’s when the problems began. Even more than a diet or a new workout regime, she needed to focus on the great things in her life. She’d build a healthier lifestyle as a result. Even more than a diet or a new workout regime, change from the inside would last a lot longer. She wanted to build on the goals she’d already achieved and reach out for more of the things she wanted in life: A husband. A family. To belong.

Chasing Jillian (Love and Football, #5) by Julie Brannagh Review

Chasing Jillian (Love and Football, #5)Chasing Jillian by Julie Brannagh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Seattle Sharks employee, Jillian Miller, gets caught by star linebacker, Seth Taylor, using the players’ workout facility. He volunteers to help her with her training.

Julie Brannagh creates another invigorating football romance!

It’s hard not to like Jillian. She grew up in foster care. She volunteers at Treehouse to help others in similar situation. She is hard working and kind. She rightfully has some insecurities, but she does her best to overcome them.

I love that Seth helps Jillian. He could have been a jerk when he caught her, but instead he befriends her. He is a good guy who is persistent.

Once again, Julie Brannagh, does a commendable job creating a heartwarming and believable novel. Chasing Jillian is an endearing story that I truly enjoyed. The characters are convincing, and the plot is realistic. Each of her books keeps me coming back for more.

Holly Reynolds has a secret. Make that two. The first involves upholding her grandmother’s hobby answering Dear Santa letters from dozens of local school children. The second...well, he just came strolling in the door.

For the last two years, Holly has not been able to stop thinking about gorgeous Seattle Shark Derrick Collins. His on-field exploits induce nightmares in quarterbacks across the NFL, but she knows he has a heart of gold.

Derrick has never met a woman he wants to bring home to meet his family, mostly because he keeps picking the wrong ones-until he runs into sweet, shy Holly Reynolds. Different than anyone he’s ever known, Derrick realizes she might just be everything he needs.

Excerpt

Derrick Collins had two jobs today: to smile, and to sign the credit card receipts. Derrick’s mama and grandma had been asking—well, nagging—him to join them for a trip to Noel, Washington, for the past couple of years. If they went on his Tuesday off from the Sharks, they might have fun, and he might not have to sign a hundred autographs before they left the parking lot. Hopefully he’d have the element of surprise; nobody expected a six-foot-five, three-hundred pound male in a place he imagined was dominated by females 365 days a year. The first week of December was prime time to spend a few hours in a snow-dusted holiday paradise.
Noel was a little town a hundred miles east of Seattle that had arisen from the ruins of a former logging town. The city fathers believed that “all Christmas, all the time” might be a way to bring tourism and the resulting jobs to the area. Surprisingly enough, their idea paid off in a big way.

The Woman’s Guide to Watching Football

I write football romances. It’s not necessary to know a thing about football to read my books, though. I hope they’re enjoyable for football fans, and for women who prefer to find something else to do while her boyfriend or husband is losing his mind over sudden death overtime for the third time this week. At the same time, why let the men have all the fun every Sunday, Monday, Thursday and some Saturdays from September until February each year?

I refuse to relinquish my love for a sport I’ll never play to the guys. I don’t need to wear a pink jersey or to have my husband pat me on the head and send me to the kitchen to get him another beer instead of enjoying the game.  It’s not just short pants and big sweaty guys. It’s strategy and struggle. It’s a game of inches. It’s endless discussions over rules and officiating decisions, and huge community celebrations when your favorite team wins it all. Give it a try, and you might love it, too

1. Football: The two teams form a line facing each other on the field. Offense (guys with the ball): Trying to score. Defense: Trying to stop the guys with the ball from advancing it. The guys with the ball have four chances (otherwise known as “downs”) to advance the ball ten yards to get another four chances to advance the ball. They’re headed to the end zone, where they will score six points if they get there by running or passing. The guy who scores may do an elaborate dance or spike the ball. There it is.

2. A simple overview of football can be had at http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/beginnersguidetofootball. If you grasp the basics, you can ask the people watching with you questions, but it’s always a good policy to wait for the commercial.

3. The NFL rules book is gigantic. I have been watching football for quite some time now. I don’t know all the rules, especially when the rules are constantly changing as well. Neither do most of the guys you’re watching with. Don’t worry if you don’t know everything.

4. It doesn’t matter what you wear. Well, let me amend that: If your significant other is a football fan and loves the 49ers, it might be advisable to wear something other than a Seahawks t-shirt. Same goes for Jets/Giants, Cowboys and anyone else, Patriots and anyone else. The safest to wear: Green Bay. Everyone loves Green Bay. Well, everyone that’s not the Colts or the Bears. Or the Seahawks.

5. Food is important, but you are not the only person capable of making sure it’s present or prepared. Order a pizza or send the football fan to the grocery store for ready-made stuff. If you’re having a Super Bowl party, ask people to bring stuff. Being stuck in the kitchen all day is not fun. Being in the midst of the excitement – fun!

6. If you’re really, really uninterested in the game, there are compelling (and fascinating) human interest stories on every team. I’m a little biased, but my Seattle Seahawks are full of them. Check out guys like Russell Wilson, Michael Robinson, Derrick Coleman, and Kam Chancellor. You might find yourself rooting for them to succeed, just like I do.

Holy, the heroine of HOLDING HOLLY, loves football almost as much as her NFL Player Husband, Derrick.  Did you ever date a football nut? How did you handle it?

Covering Kendall (Love and Football # 4) by Julie Brannagh: Review & Giveaway

Covering Kendall
Love and Football # 4
By: Julie Brannagh

October 21, 2014
Avon: Impulse
Blurb

Kendall Tracy, General Manager of the San Francisco Miners, is not one for rash decisions or one-night stands. But when she finds herself alone in a hotel room with a heart-stoppingly gorgeous man-who looks oddly familiar-Kendall throws her own rules out the window…and they blow right back into her face.

Drew McCoy should look familiar, he’s a star player for her team’s archrival the Seattle Sharks. Which would basically make Drew and Kendall the Romeo and Juliet of professional football…well, without all the dying. Not that it’s an issue. They agree to pretend their encounter never happened. Nothing good can come from it anyway, right? Drew’s not so sure.

Kendall may be all wrong, but he can’t stop thinking about her and he finds that some risks are worth taking. Because the stakes are always highest when you’re playing for keeps.

Covering Kendall (Love and Football, #4) by Julie Brannagh Review

Covering Kendall (Love and Football, #4)Covering Kendall by Julie Brannagh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Star football player for the Seattle Sharks, Drew McCoy, and General Manager of the San Francisco Miners, Kendall Tracy, should have recognized each other before they embarked on a one-night-stand. Once they realized they worked for rival teams, they agreed to pretend the incident never happened. Too bad they are attracted to each other, can’t stop thinking about each other, and keep running into one another.

I liked Kendall. She is a smart business woman with a great knowledge of the game of football. She is strong for succeeding in a predominantly male industry. She handles herself intelligently and with grace.

Drew is a great guy. He is popular but remains down to earth. Drew’s family drama was interesting and a well-timed life lesson for himself.

I appreciate that Kendall and Drew meet at a bookstore. You have got to love fellow bookworms.

The plot was fun and entertaining. I agree with the book in that it was contemporary Romeo and Juliet minus the deaths. The story is well-written making it easy to read and hard to put down.

I really enjoyed the ending. It was heartwarming and sweet. Julie Brannagh wrote another great book in the Love and Football series. I look forward to reading future books in the series.
