Real Vampires Don't Sparkle by Amy Fecteau

Real Vampires Don't SparkleReal Vampires Don't Sparkle by Amy Fecteau
My rating: 3 1/2 of 5 stars

This book was a hard one for me to rate. I feel like I was all over the board with it. At first, I thought it was alright, thinking I would give it three stars. Next it got really good – definitely four stars. But then I came the ending. I turn the page, and it said about the author. I was a bit confused because I did not feel like the book ended at all. It needed another paragraph or something. I even reread the ending a couple of times to see if I missed something. Therefore, I’m giving it 3.5 stars. If there is a sequel, I would read it to get closure. Plus, I was enjoying the book and really want to know what happens next.

Matheus Taylor was murdered and turned into a vampire against his will by seventeen hundred-year-old Roman vampire, Quintus Livius Saturnius, aka Quinn. The conversation between the characters is pretty entertaining, especially if you enjoy sarcasm, which I do. The individuals are realistic instead of glamorized – hence the name. Matheus describes Quinn as looking like an accountant when he first meets him.

Matheus is struggling throughout the novel with multiple issues: his past, his present, how he’s “not gay” and not attracted to his murderer - it must be a claiming thing.

This book has entertaining characters, mystery, and action. It is worth the read, especially if a sequel comes out, and you can read them back to back.
