My rating: 5 of 5 stars
S. J. Sylvis gets a hat trick with book three in the Bexley U series, PUCK BLOCK. In this story, Taytum Olson’s overprotective hockey goalie brother Emory and his best friend defenseman Ford Collins are always blocking guys from her.
Taytum’s family and Ford (who is like family) are overprotective of her because she almost died prior to when the book takes place. They discovered she had type 1 diabetes.
Now Taytum has guilted Ford into helping her get a boyfriend. However, the more time they spend together Taytum begins to realize loyalty to her brother is not the reason he helped Emory chase all the boys away from her.
S. J. Sylvis does an amazing job with this story. It is skillfully written and heartfelt. Ford is amazing throughout this story. He has a big heart. He is thoughtful and good at taking care of Taytum.
Ford is an orphan. His aunt and the Olsen family have taken care of him. So, he is worried about the backlash of crossing the line with Taytum. He has abandonment issues.
The characters have a lot of dimensions and grow throughout this story. They face interesting challenges and situations. PUCK BLOCK is the perfect addition to the Bexley U series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
