Nikki Hall lights the lamp with ICE COLD PLAYER (Beyond the Ice #1). Cheer co-captain Eva Adams needs to find a place to live that will allow her to keep her pet duck, Henry. Her nemesis Gavin King offers her a room in his house with three of his teammates: Mason Black, Reece Tanner, and Cole Mathis. The condition she cooks and cleans. He didn’t think she would take him up on the offer; she did.

I like Eva and Gavin. They are both seniors at Teagan University. They both have the wrong perception of the other. They can't deny they're attracted to the other. They get to know each other and discover the other’s secrets. They both have a lot of stuff going on. Gavin is hoping to be picked up by Dallas, who he was drafted by. He has issues with his twin brother Danny. Eva must share her captaincy with someone she does not see eye to eye with. Her father is running for Senator and has expectations of her. She also has an assistantship that has issues. The story holds your interest.

This is the first book that I have read by Nikki Hall. I enjoyed her writing style. I am looking forward to book two in the Beyond the Ice series, ICE COLD HEART. This is Cole’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
