My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sylvaine 8 melts the ice with FIGURE EIGHT (Brooks Haven Bears # 1). Hockey player Carter Knox and figure skater Jules Stern were childhood best friends. Julia moved away, and they drifted apart. After an injury, Julia decides to attend Brooks Haven University to recoup. She is stunned to discover that Carter lives on the same floor as her.
Carter needs to improve his reputation in hopes of winning the Arthur Baker award and ensuring his spot in the NHL. He asks Julia to become his pretend girlfriend. It’s a rocky start since there were some misunderstandings when they moved apart.
FIGURE EIGHT is an interesting read. There is a lot more going on than romance. There are family issues, stalkers, future careers, and corruption. The story is exciting with interesting twists. I love that Carter and Jules are reunited. They were both hurt when their friendship ended. They were always meant to be together.
This is the first book that I have read by Sylvaine 8. I enjoyed this story and plan to continue following the Brooks Haven Bears series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
