Grant Bowie has been avoiding Piper Boerboom, the younger sister of his best friend and roommate, Ben. He is attracted to her, but she is off limits. Then Grant discovers that Ben offered Piper to move in with them while she was between apartments. To make maters worse, Ben has been injured and staying with their parents, leaving Bowie and Piper alone together in the apartment.
Mira Lyn Kelly does a great job with this story. Grant lived with the Boerboom’s when he was in juniors. He is like a second son to their family. He is conflicted about pursuing anything with Piper because of the bro code and not wanting to lose his relationship with the Boerboom’s. Piper has pretty much always had a crush on Bowie. The story has a lot of interesting circumstances throughout the novel. I like the characters. They were relatable and dimensional.
DIRTY D-MAN is an excellent addition to the Slayers Hockey series. I am looking forward to Ben Boomer’s and Lara Elliot’s story next, DIRTY FLIRT (Slayers Hockey #8). I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
