My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Lasairiona McMaster lights the lamp with FREEZING THE PUCK, book one in the Cedar Rapids Raccoons series. In this story, Cedar Rapids Raccoons hockey captain Justin Ashe wants to forget about what happened in high school. Then he runs into his hometown ex-girlfriend’s BFF, Savannah Bowen. He is confronted with his past and his new attraction to Savannah. This is an enemies/close proximity romance.
Lasairiona McMaster does a great job with this story. It is an excellent start to the Cedar Rapids Raccoons series. My son’s name is Justin, and he played hockey, so I automatically had a place in my heart for Justin Ashe. He is a heart swooning hero. He writes hockey romances under a pen name that very few people know about. He was wrongly accused of cheating twice in high school. He has a huge heart. Savannah wants to hate Justin, but the longer she gets to know him the more she feels like she had him all wrong. She is dealing with her own issues in this story.
FREEZING THE PUCK is skillfully written an entertaining. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I am looking forward to Ares’ and Eloise’s story, book two, PULLING THE GOALIE. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
