My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Jami Davenport lights the lamp in with SLAPSHOT (Scoring #8). This is Bryce Wilcox’ and Tia Park’s story. Bryce and Tia were the jerks/the bad guy in previous books. I love that we hear their story, getting their viewpoint, and discover why they acted as they did. The two are perfect for each other, recognizing a damaged soul; both put-up defenses to prevent themselves from getting hurt.
Bryce plays for the Seattle Sockeyes. He is a puck hog. He comes off as cocky and conceited. Tia comes off as a spoiled rich/mean girl. She shows horses. She used to ride at Cedrona Farms with Sockeye wives Avery (MELTING THE ICE, Seattle Sockeyes Hockey #3) and Blaire (DELAYED PENALTY, Scoring #7). She was asked to leave because of her attitude.
Jami Davenport does a great job with the story. She changes your mind on your original opinion of the characters. My heart went out to Bryce and Tia for what they endured. SLAPSHOT was skillfully written and attention grabbing. I couldn’t put it down, reading it in one day. I’m looking forward to Banks Slater’s story next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
