My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Kendall Ryan is heating things up with the ROOKIE (Looking to Score #3). Boston Titans rookie defenseman Logan Tate gets suspended for eight games for fighting. He goes home to Lost Haven, Colorado to be with his family during this time. To return to the ice, he needs to have written authorization from a team approved therapist; enter Summer Campbell. The two have an instantaneous attraction to one another, unfortunately it is also a conflict of interest.
Kendall Ryan does a great job with this story. Logan is struggling with his father’s death and the guilt of not being there for his family. Summer is sent to Colorado to convince him to go to therapy with her. Meanwhile, Summer finds herself falling for her client and his family. She struggles with her loneliness and ethics.
THE ROOKIE is a skillfully written and heartfelt story. The characters have a lot of depth and growth. I enjoyed the plot. I would love to see a spin off series with Logan’s brothers. He has a great family that you cannot help but love. THE ROOKIE is a fantastic addition to the Looking to Score series. I look forward to Saint’s story, THE REBOUND next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
