The Penalty Box by Odette Stone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Odette Stone scores a hat trick with her third book in the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series, THE PENALTY BOX. In this story, sports agency personal assistant, Charlie Watts, agrees to marrying hockey defenseman, Mica Petrov, to prevent him from being traded, in return for paying off her debts. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult reader.
THE PENALTY BOX is a heartfelt and enjoyable read. I loved this story. Mica is a good guy. He basically gets in trouble for hanging out with his childhood friend, Andrusha. Okay, yes, Andrusha is involved with the Russian mob, but Mica is not doing anything illegal. Anyway, in order to prevent him from being traded, they need to convince the team owner that he is in love and settling down. His agent, Krista decides that her PA, Charlie, is the perfect candidate for the job. Charlie, has her own set of issues and can really use the money. Unfortunately, she has had a crush on Mica and is afraid to get her heart broken.
Odette Stone did an amazing job with this story. The characters are believable and lovable. I like how Charlie had a crush on Mica, and Mica finally notices her. He is protective of her and looks out for her. Charlie is the perfect partner for Mica. She is trustworthy and understanding. The story is exciting with unexpected outcomes. THE PENALTY BOX is skillfully written and hard to put down. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances and/or crime stories. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
