Second Chance Truth Revealed: Hockey Romance bad boy billionaire by Meagan Clarke
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Hockey defenseman, Kellan Samuels, is having a hard time finding the right lady, so he resorts to speed dating. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. It takes place in Dallas.
I thought the concept of the story was cute. A hockey player who lacks confidence when it comes to finding a girlfriend. He doesn’t want to settle for a puck bunny. He wants someone he can have a relationship with.
I liked Kellen. He’s a bit socially awkward. He’s a good guy. He’s embarrassed that he’s resorting to speed dating. Understandably he uses an alias, so people do not realize who he is. Considering he doesn’t want to attract puck bunnies, I think that’s a sound decision. Maddison is an interesting heroine. I like that she calls Kellen out on his name. I get her issues with him using a fake name.
I feel like the ending of the story went from zero to sixty, and I totally missed what happened in between. The jump was abrupt. At 60-pages, the story was a quick read. I would have liked to see the ending further developed. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
