Ruthless King by Maya Hughes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Maya Hughes scores with RUTHLESS KING, the third book in the Kings of Rittenhouse series. I couldn’t wait for this story after reading book two, RECKLESS KING. This is Emmett Cunning’s and Avery Davis’ novel. They have a long history. They were practically at each other’s throats in book two. Now they are put in a situation where they need to attempt to resolve their issues.
I enjoyed discovering Emmett and Avery’s past. They were in love with each other, and both had scars from their break up. I felt bad for Emmett. His parents were selfish. They ignored him growing up. As a result, he likes to use his money to help others to feel valued. Unlike Emmett, Avery grew up poor. On top of that, she raised her younger sister, Alyson. She sacrificed her future for her sister. I’m glad these two got a second chance. They are good together.
Maya Hughes did a great job with the plot. The story was believable and filled with drama. There were a lot of details to the couples past that caused their initial breakup. There were trust issues and lies. There were interesting twists. This is a book that is hard to put down. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
