Book Description:

Ice by day and fire by night, that’s how I roll. In a crazy existence that’s driven by excessive amounts of money, hot women, and insatiable sexual thirst, I live the life of a rock star. This diary chronicles nine sexual encounters that would have never happened if I wasn’t one of the most well-known players in the best hockey league in the world.

My name is Braden Quinn, and I play for the New York Rangers. So, sit back, and enjoy my erotic memoir.

Excerpt:

All I really want is a drink—a cold, freshly opened bottle of Stella, the bubbles rising to the top and into my parched mouth. As I wait for the bartender, across the room, I glimpse hints of pink lace as she bends down to retrieve her glass from the floor. When she stands back up, her micro-mini black dress barely covering the pert curves of her backside, her baby-blue eyes meet mine, and she grins knowingly. She locks in my attention as she walks over in her five-inch heels, keeping to the beat of the Weeknd track pumping from the DJ booth. I am spellbound. I don’t know her name or where she’s from. I hope she’s of age—even just barely will do.

As she gets nearer, her smile fades, and she looks to my left. I wonder if I misread the signals and if she was actually smiling at someone else. But then she stops just in front of me and turns around. I have no idea what’s going on, especially when I feel her soft hand touch mine. She runs her deliciously sharp nails up and down my hand, sending a tickle of excitement through me. I cup her hand, and she entwines her fingers through mine. I want—need—to feel her back against me to comfort my throbbing cock. I grab hold of her waist, her hand still in mine, and firmly pull her closer to me. As her butt presses like a cushion against me, she grinds a little, the top of her head tickling my chin. Then, taking me by surprise, she forcefully glides my unresisting hand down from the small of her lower back—where her straight, shimmering chestnut hair ends in wisps of loose waves—to her exposed smooth thigh. I forget my need for beer.

Interview

Please welcome Fire and Ice author Braden Quinn to Diane’s Book Blog.

What is your favorite part of the story, Fire and Ice?

BQ - Believe it or not, Session 7 was unbelievable. It’s one of the tamer episodes, but the wrongness of it made it most memorable.

What inspired you to write your first book?

BQ - The craziness of being a professional athlete. I don’t think people know how absurd it is, especially for what it does to your sex life. The situations you find yourself in, you’re constantly questioning your morals, but at the same time your thanking the universe for your good fortune [Laughs]. I was blown away when I first went pro, and over the years I kept telling myself to write a book about these experiences. My wife, Carly, also encouraged me to write it. She’s not shy about these things.

What is your typical day like?
BQ - My typical hockey game day routine:
7:30 a.m. - I wake up, take a shower, brush my teeth and get dressed. Once I get downstairs, eat a quick breakfast of cereal, oats, and a green smoothie.
8:30 a.m. - I leave for the rink. Sometimes I might leave a little later, it all depends on the day. On the way in, I usually listen to something chill like Bob Dylan or Dire Straights.
9:00 a.m. - Arrive at MSG. I usually get in and change into shorts and a t-shirt. Then I get a stick ready for the game and hang out with the guys before we get on the ice.
10:15 a.m. - Morning skate. We get out there and try to loosen up a little bit and have some fun. I might work on some things that I feel I need to concentrate on, but it is just another way to get focused before the game.
10:35 a.m. - Meet with media after morning skate.
11:00 a.m. - After morning skate we have our meetings. The coaches run through some video (11:01 – Systems, 11:07 – Power-play, 11:11 – Penalty-kill) to get us ready for the game.
12:00 p.m. -  We go to lunch at Lugo Cucina. I always get the same thing: pasta . And we don’t even have to order; they know we are coming and have it ready for us.
1:00 p.m. - Once I get home from lunch, I go for a nap.
3:00 p.m. - Wake up from my nap. Then I throw on a suit and say goodbye to my wife.
4:00 p.m. - I leave for the rink. I listen to heavier music now like Dropkick Murphys, Slipknot, or Nirvana.  This is where I really start to focus on the game.
4:35 p.m. - Once I get to the rink, I like to hang out with the guys and throw a football around. It’s an easy way to relax and loosen up before the game.
5:30 p.m. - Pre-game meetings. The coaches give us the last run down on the opponent.
6:05 p.m. - I start getting all my gear on for the game. We’ve got music going in there and everyone is really focused at that point.
6:26 p.m. - On the ice for warm-ups.
7:08 p.m. -  Show time.
9:30 – 9:45 p.m. - Game is over. We take post-game media and then I shower and change.
10:30 p.m. - Get home and try to relax a little. Carly and I might watch a movie or try to catch up on some Netflix shows like White Collar or Scandal.
1:00 – 2:00 a.m. - I usually can’t get to sleep until late on game nights. It takes me awhile to fully wind down and relax.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

BQ - A long drive/road trip usually does the trick, nothing else to think about

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

BQ - All I can say is that it’s hot, and that I can’t believe my wife gave me the go-ahead to release this stuff [Laughs]

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

BQ - Paperback! I’m old-school. They’re compact and I can carry them around anywhere. I never go on the road without at least three paperbacks in my bag.
