Holly & Hockey Boots by V.L. Locey
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Holly & Hockey Boots is a sweet story that is great for the holidays. ECHL goalie Adam Seiger encounters Cason Reyes at a meet-and-greet. He is desperate to see him again and blurts out a lie that comes back to haunt him. This contemporary romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.
Adam is a sweet character. He is quirky and means well. He is openly gay and accepted by his teammates. He was raised by his Aunt Bailey and Uncle Owen after losing his parents at a young age. He is a genuinely nice guy, that likes to give back to others. He unintentionally, lies to Carson and Finn and is trying to figure out how to rectify the situation.
Carson is an admirable character. He takes care of his dad, as well as, raising his sister’s son, Finn. He is hard working and honorable. Understandably, Carson is upset to discover that Adam lied to him, but more importantly lied to Finn. He is open minded. He is a wonderful uncle to Finn.
I like Adam’s roommate Rob Poore. He is humorous and a good friend. Adam’s aunt and uncle are great people that did a fantastic job raising Adam. Adam is fortunate to have some wonderful people in his life that care about him and help him out.
Holly & Hockey is a fast read. It is a feel-good story that is fun for the holidays. I like how holly is incorporated into the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
