My rating: 5 of 5 stars
V. L. Locey scores a hat trick with Full Strength, the third book in the Point Shot Series. If you have read my reviews for Vic’s and Dan’s first two books: Two Man Advantage and Game Misconduct, you would already know that I LOVE Vic and Dan. I just adore them. Okay, everybody likes Dan. He is sweet, loyal, friendly. Vic, on the other hand, kind of grows on you, like a wart. The guy is absolutely hilarious in a prickly kind of way. Maybe not so amusing if you are easily offended. However, I love sarcasm, so he has become one of my favorite characters of all time. He makes me laugh so hard I cry.
Vic has changed considerably since the first book. Dan has been good for him. While he is still funny, he has toned down his verbal banter. The story is told from Vic’s point of view. We find out just how horrible his childhood was in this story. I’m so glad that he finally found people that love him. I totally want to adopt him and Dan. Okay, Dan has a really great family and doesn’t need adopting, but being from Chicago where Vic grew up, if I found him as a kid, I would have adopted him or at least looked out for him – I love him.
The story takes place after book two, Game Misconduct. Vic and Dan were outed by a teammate, Phil Prescott, on Twitter. I have to say, Phil, is just stupid, seriously, why is he poking the hornets’ nest and messing with Vic? Do you think the man is going to take that sitting down, especially when you're messing with Dan, ya, not happening. Their payback was very creative. I also, love all the support they received from their teammates.
In the previous book, Game Misconduct, we also found out that Vic has become a dad, after having a one-night-stand with Heather Pavlick. Dan shows some jealousy. Which can you really blame him? Vic is a stand-up guy and wants to do everything he can to help support his child. Vic is worried that he wouldn’t be a good dad but is willing to help support the kid financially. I like how the relationship progresses between Dan, Heather, and Dan. Dan is supportive through the whole ordeal. I like Heather; she has a great attitude.
Full Strength is a fantastic read. I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. I would highly suggest reading the books in order. V. L. Loey has out done herself! Have I mentioned that I love Dan and Vic?
