Surrender to the Chase by Amanda J. Greene
My rating: 4 ½ of 5 Stars
Assassin, Ethan Halstead, is back to work a year after the death of his friend. His first assignment is to return a runaway werewolf, Fraya, to her pack.
Surrender to the Chase was an exciting and fast-paced novella that had me entranced.
I enjoyed Ethan’s character. He blames himself for his friend’s death even though he is not at fault. He is good at his job, which is no wonder with as long as the vampire has lived. He is courageous, clever, and protective.
Freya is a great character. I cannot blame her for leaving her pack. Her father/Alpha is twisted. Her ex-boyfriend, Ferguson, is also a piece of work. She has not had luck with meeting an honorable man until Ethan. Being a rare female wolf she was guarded and not really allowed to lead a fulfilling life. I felt bad for her situation and was glad she ran away. She is strong and caring.
Ferguson is a cunning and cruel adversary. He is easy to dislike and makes an excellent bad-guy.
I enjoyed Amanda J. Greene’s writing style and plot. The entire story had a great flow and was interesting from beginning to end. This novella is a fast read packed with content and excitement. Surrender to the Chase is an excellent addition to the Under Realm Assassins Series.
