EXERPT
...Searing, damp
stones press into my cheek, squishing my other eye closed. I sit up, wiping the
nasty grime off my face. The slickness of it makes me wince. God knows what it
is. I try to take a deep breath, but fail. Breathing is a chore in the dense,
blistering air. It feels like I'm inhaling globs of boiling water. I stand,
allowing my limbs time to regain their balance. Suddenly, I'm running down a
passageway without any light to guide me... Thousands of butterflies take
flight in my stomach as a current of air swiftly engulfs me. I'm falling at a
high rate of speed, like the dip in a roller coaster, minus the excitement and
safety harnesses. I try to scream, but panic hijacks my voice. I hit the bottom
hard, miraculously unscathed.
I stand, wiping a
sticky substance off my jeans. I try not to dwell on it. Lifting my arms, I
extend them in front of me, searching for a doorway. My hands grope over the hundreds
of clammy bricks surrounding me like the bottom of a well. In the loud silence,
I hear my name, but Janie isn’t calling me. This voice is lower than a whisper,
almost inaudible. Am I losing my mind? Confinement in closed quarters and pitch-black
darkness have been known to do that. Again, I hear my name... Anna... It echoes off the tightly
enclosed walls, and smacks my ears. It grows louder before abruptly stopping. A
velvet voice soothes my sore ears, but makes me jump backwards. The back of my
head rams the wall, forcing me to slink onto the ground. My muscles tense and
my entire body begins to throb. I prop myself against the bricks, hoping it will
cease. I attempt to fold my legs into my chest, but they rebel in pain. I focus
my thoughts on survival, rather than the insects I know must be blanketing the
ground...

Micah’s on a quest for world domination—and it’s not just the Netherworld that’s in danger. The human world is threatened as well. Now, it’s up to Anna to escape from Micah's clutches so she can locate The Scholars and an ancient book before both fall into the wrong hands.
With a fiercely loyal Werewolf and immensely powerful Warlock by her side, what can go wrong?
A lot apparently.
If fighting off the Prince of Darkness wasn’t enough, Anna’s emotions are a whirlwind, as she battles between what fate demands and what she actually wants.

EXERPT
...His
magic continues its course through me, draining all of mine. I need to
resist... to fight him. I have to do something before he has the chance to
completely snuff me out or find The Scholars. My jaw clenches and my hands roll
into tight balls. My shoulders tense, preparing myself for the upcoming battle.
I focus all of my energy into stopping him. Bit by bit, my magic shoves its way
past his like a bully on a schoolyard. His grip stiffens. A trickle of blood
glides down the side of my forearm from his piercing fingernails.
“Go
ahead, Anna, fight me. I guarantee it will only hurt you more.”
I
throw every memory and emotion Micah has created or tarnished, tossing them
into the raging furnace of hate burning inside of me. I slam my eyelids shut
and Valen’s face pops inside my head. I need to get back to him. I squeeze my
eyes tightly, channeling all the vigor I have, hoping to push Micah out. A
fissure breaks right down the middle of his magic, allowing mine to explode to
the surface. I feel his power retreat as mine conquers his. I flip my eyes
open, stealing a glimpse of his face...

love anything paranormal and/or supernatural - seriously I live in
Philadelphia! For those of you who don’t know, this city is an awesomely
haunted place! This healthy paranormal addiction has provided me the motivation

Please welcome author of The Anna Wolfe Series Casey Keen!
How long did it take you to write Saved by the Spell?
Saved by the Spell only took me six months to finish! I found it a lot easier than I'll Be Damned since it was a continuation.
If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?
If I were stranded on an island, I would choose Anna! She's a powerful witch, powerful enough to transport us back to civilization or at least build us a house.
If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?
Martello hands down. I love his character development throughout the series. He is someone who would tell me I look fat in a dress! He's also proven to be a supportive and non-judgmental friend, which is important.
What inspired you to write your first book?
After reading H.P. Mallory's series, I discovered that she started as a self-published author (I didn't think it was possible). I dug around Amazon and found that self-publishing is actually easy! Since I've always enjoyed writing, I decided to give it a shot.
What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?
That's a tossup! I will always love paperbacks, but ebooks have become far more convenient and most used.

Guest Blog Post:
Anna Wolfe Series Survival Guide:
Werewolves,
vampires, angels... the list is endless! The Anna Wolfe Series is filled with paranormal
threats... so, what if all-hell were to break loose... how does one survive in
this world of celestial beings? First off, if you don't have any awesome,
supernatural powers, your chance of dying just tripled. The only advice I have for
the layman, is to seek shelter with those who do!
Vampires
We've all
seen the movies, read the stories... and no, they don't twinkle or bat their full
eyelashes. They are mean, people-eating machines. Other than a
good-old-fashioned stake through the heart, their weakness is magic. Magical
spells - both used as defense and/or offense - aids in protecting one's neck so
to speak. If you're unlucky enough to encounter a fangsy, drive a stake through
its heart or cast a protection spell.
Werewolves
Another
species highly misunderstood. Yes, they look cuddly but in reality, they are
dangerous, uncontrollable beings. Weres shift on full moons, whether they want
to or not. So? They're still human inside... right? Werewolves are serious. In
their wolf form, they are animals - raw, territorial, hungry animals at that.
Their weakness? Wolfsbane, magic and silver (at least the movies got this part right).
What happens if you run into one? Make sure to aim for their heart, you won't
get a second chance.
Witches & Warlocks
Out of all
the paranormal creatures, witches are a challenge to kill. Witches (male &
female) can control elements, people, reasoning, etc. An extensive laundry list
of spells waits patiently in their arsenal, allowing them to fully control
their environments. Sounds to me like they're impenetrable? Not true. Witches
have a few weaknesses, from owning a familiar to protecting an object. When
witch hunting, make sure to do your research first before coming face to face
with one.
Angels
One of the
most elusive and mysterious beings in the supernatural realm, angels have been
an enigma for centuries. There are various types, fallen, good, servants, etc. Most
angels have charges. Charges are people they must protect. If one of their
charges were to die (suicide or lack of luck), then the angel's powers will be
revoked. If that isn't bad enough, they would be born again as a mortal. Sound
cool? It probably isn't. After having divine power run through your veins, the
idea of being mortal sounds a little lackluster. Other than charges, angels are
the hardest to kill if you can even find them.
So, now you
know each creature's weakness. It's time to utilize this knowledge and prepare.
Let's look at the snapshot below:
Supernatural
Survival Guide:
- Magical
powers are a must (if you don't have any, find someone who does)
- Practice
makes perfect. Your talents need to be on point
- Team up with
some bad-ass supernaturals
- Think before
you act. Even the greatest of heroes have a well-thought out plan
- Carry
wolfsbane and silver in case of werewolf contact
- Find the
witches' weakness, then destroy it before they destroy you
- Wooden stake
for the vampires (or magic if you have it)
- Run like
hell if you encounter an angel. Chances are you're already marked
