Shay's brain
ordered her body to make a break for it, or at least let loose a scream to draw
attention, but she stood there, dazed and staring. It was the
throw-your-panties-off-gorgeous bad boy from her hotel room.
My God, this
guy was a brick shithouse oozing don't-screw-with-me vibes. And didn't that
just make her knees weak. She was so not a swooning type of girl.
Despite the
warmth of the day, he wore a knee-length black leather jacket. No doubt, he was
armed out the wazoo beneath it.
He subjected
her to a scrutinizing once-over. A swirling black substance in his irises
mesmerized her. She hadn't noticed that last night.
What was
this guy? Definitely not completely human. A month ago, she would've
rationalized the sludgy black substance obscuring the real color of his irises
into normalcy and remained in complete denial of anything amiss.
She wondered
if this guy might just be the real deal--one of those mythical, sorcerer-like
immortals obligated to fight daemons for all eternity. A Scimitar Magus.
Shouldn't he be a good guy? A hero figure? Why then did her intuition demand
immediate evasion? For some reason, her gut equated this guy with death, but

Author Bio:
Zoe Forward
lives in the South with her supportive family and an assortment of pets. She
has a special love for archaeology, especially anything Egyptian. A deep part
of her wishes she had a career that would have her at a dig site in a sandy
country. But she is a small animal veterinarian, caring for everything from
chinchillas to dogs...and there was even one hermit crab in there.

Please welcome author, Zoe Forward, who has stopped by to answer some questions and share some details about her books.(Zoe) Thank you for having me drop by! I’m celebrating the release of the second in the Scimitar Magi paranormal series, Forgotten in Darkness. I love writing about hot alpha badboys and mixing in a bit of ancient Egyptian myth. I’m also a veterinarian, mom of one young son, wife, and total readaholic.
What inspired you to write your first book?
(Zoe) I’ve had chatty characters bouncing around in my head for eons. A few years ago everything came together. The characters in my head demanded they be released onto paper, my love of Egyptian mythology and my obsession for PNR. It’s been an exhilarating adventure ever since.
What is your favorite book that you wrote?
(Zoe) I love the third installment in the Scimitar Magi series, which is in editing right now. In this story Astrid Scarre, ex-covert operative, finally arrives at the threshold of the death she’s sought for years. She’s yanked back into life for recruitment into the Scimitar Magi. The gods require she be doorkeeper to the magikal prison in which they housed Draggon, the magus who stole her heart and then shattered her life when he attempted to kill her years ago. He may be the only magus who can eliminate a deadly daemon enemy, but he’s uncontrollable and unpredictable. Facing him ignites their gods-fated attraction, but does not eliminate Astrid’s hate. She is pulled between her physical attraction for Draggon, and her emotional connection to the man she longs to give her heart to – her spy partner, Kane Langford. The pull between these two men might destroy her. Sometimes soulbound love is not enough.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
(Zoe) I have many favs, and many who influenced me. I started out fascinated by Ann Rice’s The Witching Hour. Her story telling is…well, it’s awesome. Then I discovered romance! I followed paranormal romance from its fledgling inception through the vampire crazy to now when there are so many wonderful otherworld creatures and talented authors. Anyone who’s a PNR fan must give kudos to J.R. Ward, Christine Feehan, and Karen Marie Moning. Those ladies are immensely talented story tellers.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
(Zoe) I’m so excited about my recently completed Pleiades witch novel called Reality Shift, the first in a new series from Entangled Publishing. In this novel Kat Ramsey, veterinarian with an unusual ability to read minds, has a big problem – dimension hopping. She’s now trapped in an alternate reality with religious nut jobs who believe the inquisition never ended targeting her. And the only person she knows is the one-night stand from years ago who she accidentally cursed.
What book are you reading now?
(Zoe) I’m finishing up Hard As It Gets by Laura Kaye. Isn’t she amazing? She ranks up there with my hero authors that I mentioned before with her masterful delivery of characters and a splash of fantastic chemistry. I also just finished Rebecca Zanetti’s Forgotten Sins, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
