Author Bio:
Sharon Kay was bitten early by the writing bug. At age twelve she wrote a short story, about
a magic ring, that won a statewide Young Authors contest. With her nose always in a book, she read the
most novels for her age group in her local library’s summer reading program.
In her teens, writing took a back seat to fashion, as she
was determined to find clothes different from what everyone else bought at the
mall. And what she couldn’t find, she
created. She learned to sew, worked in a
fabric store after school, and spent her spare time with a needle in hand. Her black and orange prom dress is still one
of her favorite creations.

Interview:
I would like to welcome author Sharon Kay for stopping by today to tell us a little about herself and the Solsti Prophecy Series.
What is your favorite part of Wicked Waves?
à This is tough! I have to say the scene where Brooke sings to Kai after he is tortured. He’s drifting in and out of consciousness, but he hears her and is aware of her scent, and that gets him through. She offers him the only thing she can at that moment: her voice.

How long did it take you to write Wicked Waves?
The rough draft took four months (and that’s only 10-15 hours a week of writing time). Then it took another few months to have critique partners and beta readers look at it, then revise, then go to editing.

If you were stranded on a desert island, which of your characters do you want by your side?
I’d want ANY or all of my Lash demons! Hanging around that group would unleash a flurry of new stories, I’m sure. Not to mention that much testosterone would be entertaining!

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, which one would it be?
I would say Nicole, the heroine of Wicked Wind. She’s fearless and determined. She’d be fun to have drinks with or work out with. Plus, she would kick my butt into gear when I need it.

What inspired you to write your first book?
Wicked Wind was my first book, and it pretty much beat its way out of my head. I never intended to write a novel. But the characters and plot crystallized one weekend, and I just had to sit down and get the idea out.

Which do you prefer: paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?
I resisted getting an e-reader for a long time, saying “I like to hold a book in my hands,” but I got a Kindle Paperwhite a year ago and I LOVE it! No more wondering where I’m going to put all those books in my house!

Can you share a little of Wicked Waves with us?
Yes, I'd love to share an excerpt from Wicked Waves! Enjoy:
Kai crouched on the roof of the gleaming Lincoln Park condo building, all of his enhanced senses on alert. Through the concrete and metal below his feet, the smell of lilacs wafted up to him, reassuring him of Brooke’s presence. He focused on the unit below, listening for the steady beat of her heart and the even rhythm of her breathing. Satisfied that she was sound asleep, he relaxed and inhaled, letting her scent wash over him. He could drown in that seductive, soothing fragrance.
Brooke would kill him if she knew he was here. Most days, she looked ready to hurl a dagger between his eyes. If his brethren found out, he would never hear the end of it. The other Lash demons stationed in Chicago would fall on their asses laughing, and that would be after giving him shit for three days straight. Kai, who took pleasure in bedding as many women as he wanted, was stymied by one willful brunette.
He cast a glare at the wispy clouds drifting across the dark sky. It never turned jet black, not with all the lights blanketing the city. The quiet streets gave him no cause to linger, yet he found himself thinking of reasons to stay. He watched the few souls walking down her tree-lined street, most returning from trendy neighborhood bars. There was no dark magic here. No need to hang out on her roof.
Straightening to leave, he heard her cry out. Adrenaline surged through his veins and a switch flipped in his mind, his body changing from observer to protector. Her unit was on the top floor of the building, which he could reach via her balcony. After dropping down outside the sliding glass door, he paused to take a deep breath. He didn’t detect any other scents inside her rooms.
Removing the screen, he shoved the frame open as far as it would go and climbed inside. It was tricky squeezing his six-and-a-half-foot body through, but he had been in tighter spaces. With a calculated drop, he landed soundlessly in a tidy living room.
He paused again, hearing nothing but her breathing, no longer as steady as it had been a few minutes ago. The fragrance of lilacs drew him through the living room and down a hall. He passed an empty bedroom, a bathroom, and then came to her open door.
She lay on her side, sheets twisted around her body. Alone.
Kai stood in the center of her room, unable to tear his eyes away from the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
