Edge of Darkness by J.T. Geissinger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
American, Ember Jones, moved to Barcelona after a terrible accident in her past. Haunted by the trauma, she is barely alive emotionally just living day by day and not letting anyone get close to her.
Christian McLoughlin is on a suicide mission to kill the enemy that has placed the shape-shifting race of the Ikati in danger. While on his mission, he meets Ember, a woman who intrigues him and makes him want to live.
J.T. Geissinger does it again with another amazing book in the Night Prowler Series. Sometimes when I’m reading a book in a sequence, I feel like I’m reading the same story with different characters. That is not the case for the Night Prowler Series. I love that each novel is related, but you don’t feel like your reading the same story over again.
Edge of Darkness has a little of everything: romance, action, humor, fantasy, supernatural, paranormal, politics….
The characters are great. I especially enjoyed the colorful personality of Ember’s friend and neighbor, Asher. His explanation of how all men fit into three categories: Alpha, Beta, and Assholes was priceless.
I always liked Christian’s character in the previous novels and felt a bit sorry for him. It was nice that it was his turn to find that special someone. I thought it was great that there was more to Ember, and she was not some flashy model type that you could totally envision him with.
