My rating: 4 ½ of 5 Stars
Maggie Raynard is not a normal teenage girl. She is a semi-god, descended from Aphrodite, the goddess of love. You would think that wouldn’t be bad thing, except for a lot of semi-gods receive negative powers. In her case, they are like succubus sucking the love from things or people. Unfortunately, for Maggie, she didn’t know about her heritage, and she started to get her powers early putting her boyfriend Eric in a coma.
To make matters worse there is a new guy at school named Mac Finnegan, who is quickly becoming her nemesis. Maggie writes an anonymous advice column called “She Said.” Mac decided to counter with “He Said” constantly criticizing "She" and writing the opposite viewpoint. To make matters worse, for some unknown reason, Maggie is attracted to the jerk.
But wait theirs more, now Maggie is on the radar of The Council of Amaranth an organization that polices the semi-gods to make sure they do not cause damage and expose their race. Her only hope might be none other than, Mac Finnegan.
I really liked this book. It is written from Maggie’s POV. It is entertaining with never a dull moment. The plot is interesting with a different twist. The characters are believable and likeable, faults and all.
Christine O’Neil did an excellent job with the first book in the Kardia Chronicles. I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next.
