Rebecca is a London girl currently living in New Zealand. During the week, she can be found wrangling dogs and cuddling puppies as Dog Day Care Supervisor at a day care centre in Auckland. the Wolf author R. Murray to Diane’s Book Blog.
What
inspired the idea for Touched by the Wolf?
The inspiration for
Touched by the Wolf actually came from a character I use to write on Twitter
when I was part of a role play group. Emilie is the main female in the book,
and I have had her in my head for about four years now. I originally started
writing an historical fiction, but after struggling with it I took Emilie and
her sister Melaina and placed them in the paranormal world of witches, vampires
and werewolves and never looked back. I admit I did not really have a solid
idea where I was going with the story to start with until about three chapters
in and it just clicked. The rest is history, as they say.
What
was your favorite part of the story to write?
I really like the scenes
I get to describe the wolves and the power behind them. I hope I have done it
justice and can bring some imagination to the readers on my take of a werewolf.
I think everyone has a different idea on what they look like.
If you could be best
friends with one of your characters, who would it be?
Actually, the character I would love to be best
friends with has only been mentioned very briefly right at the end of the book.
Samantha. She is going to be the main character for the other two books of the
series. I love her already and I cannot wait to get to know her more!
Who is your favorite author
and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I love JK Rowling. I am a massive Harry Potter
geek, like huge. I have always loved fantasy of all sorts. For me the world she
writes is so magical and such a great escape. For those hours that you read her
books you are transported to a brilliantly visual world of adventure and I will
never tire of escaping there.
Are you reading anything at
the moment?
I have just started the second book in Stephen
King’s Dark Tower epic series. I loved the first one and I am slowly working my
way through all of them.
What
are you currently working on? Any new novels in the pipeline?
I am just about to start
writing book two of the Dark Blood trilogy. I can’t wait to get back to these
characters. Maccon the Black Wolf especially has been very vocal of late, he
has a lot to say.
Is
there anything you would like to say to your readers?
Just thank you for taking
a chance on a new author, and that I hope you enjoy the world I take you and
the characters as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
