Excerpt from all 5 books:

Ribbon of Darkness:
Draven turned her around in his arms. “I’d suggest you watch
yourself if you wish to keep your clothes while we walk the next
few miles to the Pole. I have absolutely no qualms about taking
you right here, snow and all.” Draven leaned in close to her face.
His lips hovered over hers, causing Ribbon to bite her lip just so
she didn’t close the small distance between them. “Trust me, Donella,
when I tell you the cold will be the last thing on your pretty
little mind.” His eyes slid half-closed.

Tempting Clover:
"You're already wet. I could claim you. Didn't you say you wanted to have an orgasm, that it was torture?" Malik's words came out low and sinister. Clover suddenly regretted ever wanting an orgasm, or at least telling him so.
She held her breath. Oh God. He's going to take me. Clover fought harder and he let her break away. His laughter filled the air between them. Her chest heaved with fear, her breath coming in hard gasps.
"However, it wouldn't satisfy me little morsel. You could never please me properly." He walked past her laughing as he went to his lab to make more human potions.

Steele Your Soul:
He coaxed her lips apart for the briefest of moments before her hand came up and landed a stinging blow to his cheek. Amused, Joren laughed, a full belly laugh. The kind of thing he hadn't done in ages. The lass was a feisty one; he'd give her credit. And oh so pretty when angered. Her cheeks had flushed a dark shade of pink, and her brown eyes darted all over the ship, anywhere but on his. He rubbed his cheek. She had a solid swing. He licked his lips to savor the sweet taste of her mouth.
"How dare you!"
"How dare I? Oh, elfess, I dare all the damn time. I'm a pirate." He wanted to scoop her up and haul her off to his bed. But he wasn't the kind of elf who took advantage in such a way—no, she'd come to him instead. He might even play hard to get. But she would come.

A Hint of Cayenne:
Hawthorn stood before her. Dark hooded eyes, broad shoulders filling up the space, and every bit the male she had seen a few hours ago. A jar of honey in his hand.
"What are you...how could––"
"I find you?" His voice rolled out calm and deep, slipping over her and moistening her panties.
"Yes. Find me." She swallowed. She looked at the jar of honey and back to him. His gaze bore into hers, and she averted her eyes opening the door. "Come in."
He walked over the threshold, his boots thumping softly on the floor. "I have a knack for finding the things I'm after." He grinned.
Cocky bastard. She shut the door and crossed her arms. "And what are you doing here?" Inside, butterflies tossed in her stomach. She wanted him to say he'd come for her but, at the same time, was terrified at the thought of hearing him say it. Her mind jumped from one side to the other. Her hands fisted shirt where he couldn't see.
"I told you I'd find you." He took one long stride toward her. "We left things a little..." He took another step, and she backed up until she hit the wall. "Steamy." His voice dropped so low she barely heard the last word. Her heart hammered at her ribcage.
"What...ah." She cleared her throat. "What do you want?"
Thorn put his free hand on the wall beside her, and she melted into him. How had he gotten so elfing good at teasing her? "I want you of course," he said, his lips barely above hers.

A Whisper of Rue:
"Rue, you can call me every name in your pretty little head but it won't change anything. Afraid you're stuck with me, and your decisions will affect everything. But you're stubborn and you won't see things my way instantly. You'll need proof. I understand. But don't say I didn't warn you," he stated.
Proof of what? He was playing games with her and she wasn't in the elfing mood. He had no right to come in her home. No right to make demands on her. No right to invade every inch of her privacy. She wanted the earpiece out. Why'd she have to get all curious and put the stupid thing in to begin with? Her mother always said her curiosity would lead her to trouble one day and Rue had the dreadful sense that today was that day. "I don't know why you chose me to do whatever it is you need. Probably something horrible. But quit fucking around and remove the spell."
"You want it removed?"
"Yes." She hissed the word. Her anger bubbled inside threatening to tear her apart, mainly because she couldn't see the man attempting to control her.
"Then come and find me."

Interview:

Please welcome Trouble with Elves Series author Decadent Kane to Diane's Book Blog.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?

I would choose Clover- I know my Joren fans are like 'how can that be?' specially since Joren can sail a ship, but Clover is resourceful, fun, clever, and I'm pretty sure we would find some very entertaining conversations.

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

A character to be my best friend, Rue from novella # 5 in the set. Because she is smart mouthed and strong in character. I feel like I connect with her on more than author character levels.

What is your typical day like?

My typical day, I have a 7am alarm, marketing in the morning as well as getting kidlets up and cuddling with all three of my dogs. Often I forget to eat breakfast or lunch while I work away at my computer because I'm also an editor under my real name with two separate companies. After dinner I watch a little TV with my kids or my guy and then I make jewelry, finally ending my evening with writing time.
How do you overcome writer’s block?

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I'm currently writing out a new novel, about demons instead of elves...oh now now...I love my elves and intend to write more, but my writerly heart holds all sorts of creatures all vying for the spotlight.

Here is an unedited snippet of my recent work:

"Do not run, Haven Rowe. Just as you can summon me directly with my name, I can find you at any time with yours. Don't try to slip away when there is no hope of it. I will be sorely disappointed if I have to drag you back to me."

The demon's words sunk into her, heavy on her heart. There would be no hope, no salvation. The second Heath was set free, she would be trapped. Before she allowed herself to get too worked up she encouraged the hardened enamel of anger to encase her emotions. Heath would be doing a whole lot to pay her back this time and if she ever saw him with any kind of magic again, she'd find a way to make him pay for it. She couldn't keep doing this to herself, or him.

Desiderus regained her attention when his warm hand touched her check. "I won't run, demon. But be assured this will not be easy on you...I will be sure of it."

"Of that, my little human, I have no doubts." His form wavered and in circle of smoke, Desiderus vanished.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

This is a hard question because I like all three for different reasons. I normally read paperbacks, they are easier to maneuver. But e-books I can fit more while traveling, or if I plan to read many short pieces all in one sitting. Hardbound- while I really like these as an idea, they hard to take to bed and read because they don't bend well. LOL and they don't have small capacity for traveling and such. But hardbound also looks mighty pretty on a shelf.

When Pepper set out for the day, the last thing she expected was to come face to face with a pirate. But when she locks eyes with the Captain, she's ready to let him pillage or plunder whatever he wants. At least until his drow shipmate decided to steal her for himself.

Captain Joren Steele has a love for his ship, money, and females, usually in that order. When Pepper steps into his life, he's certain his love 'em and leave 'em status will remain intact. But when he discovers she's a victim of the drow, he has to make a choice. His ship or the elfess.

Pepper slammed into something solid. "Oaf." She fell on her rear and looked up.
Joren stood in front of her, tall, dark, and so hot.
"What are you doing, Tide?" His voice came out low.
Pepper peeked behind her. The drow had stopped.
"She's mine, pirate. Hand her over. You work for us. You have to do what I say."
Joren grinned. "Ye poxy bilge-sucker. I don't listen to ye. I help your king. He pays me to carry the cargo, not to hand over ladies to ye." His chest puffed out, and he set his legs apart, ready for a fight.
The drow didn't comment. Instead, he stepped over Pepper and slammed himself into Joren as he stomped off down the deck. Joren didn't budge or turn around to watch the elf go. His features softened, and he bent down on one knee in front of Pepper. Her heart skipped for an entirely new reason.
"Three saves in one day, me beauty. Ya owe me." He smiled and held out his rough hand to her.
She took it. "Three? I recall two. The crates and just now. Besides, I had the drow under control, so really, you saved me from the falling crates." She smoothed out her clothes and flipped her hair back. She should thank him, but he was so smug, looking over at her as if she was on the menu of his sexual dining experience.
Joren chuckled. A low sound, which lifted his shoulders. "Three, elfess." He pulled her grandmother's bag of spice from his front pocket and dropped it into her hands. He winked at her. "Iffin' ye had that drow under control, then what ye be doin' at me feet no more than a moment ago?"
Pepper raised an eyebrow. "You stepped in my way." She tucked the brown pouch into her pocket. She wanted off this wretched boat. She turned around and stormed away. The last thing she needed was to encourage a pirate. What did they do again? Oh, kill and loot, or pillage and plunder?
A hand spun her around by the elbow, and she found herself face-to-face with Joren and those blue eyes. He grabbed hold of her chin with his fingertips. "Wait a minute. I don't even get a thank you?" He frowned.
"Thanks." Pepper set her jaw.
"I be needin' something a little better than that. Tide will be back, and I will pay the brunt of saving your sweet little ass."
"What do you want?" She tried to break free, but he held fast.
"This." He bent over and claimed her lips with his own.

For two years, Clover has been at a goblin's beck and call. Two years of no orgasms. Until she heard a rumor the sage witch could help her break the goblin's curse. There's only a few minor details, like how would she find love on short notice and how deadly are nightshade berries?
Reed's life was simple, own a bar, walk to work, fight a little. He didn't expect to tangle with a wanton elfess who disappeared on him not once but twice. Let alone save her from a depraved goblin. He'd sworn off women like her for good, so why did he feel the need to protect her?
