Calliope Porter (Callie) begins a new life in Knox Creek, leaving behind an oppressive upbringing. Ridge Carter, former NHL player and current co-owner of Roosters bar is intrigued with Callie and wants to make her his.
I felt bad for Callie and her onerous upbringing. The town she is from does not have modern technologies. It was interesting when she was experiencing something new. Ridge is a good guy. He is patient with Callie and protective. The two get each other.
I initially had a hard time getting into this story. Callie rambles a lot in the beginning. That being said, I did enjoy the ending. This is the first book that I have read by Harloe Rae. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
