My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Kimberly Readnour lights the lamp with DEKE ME (Cessna U Hockey #1). Cessna U Hockey team captain Blake Morton (aka Dashing Duke of the Deke) convinces Pre-Med student Amanda Hoyt to fake date him. Catching feeling was not part of the plan.
I like the characters. They were well-developed and grew throughout the story. Blake was drafted and wants to live his dream of being a professional NHL player. However, his family plans on him becoming the heir to the Morton Textile Incorporation.
Amanda is a noble heroine. She comes from a humble background. She is on a scholarship. Nevertheless, she is working two jobs in order to support her living expenses and to help supplement her grandmother’s bills. Blake offers to pay her for fake dating him.
Kimberly Readnour does a great job with this story. The characters face interesting challenges. The story is heartfelt and entertaining. This is the first book that I have read by Kimberly Readnour. I enjoyed her writing style. I look forward to Ryan and Maddy’s story next, book two in the Cessna U Hockey series, FACE ME OFF. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
