Pucks and Books (Knoxville Bears #1) by Toni Aleo Review

Pucks and Books (Knoxville Bears Book 1)Pucks and Books by Toni Aleo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Toni Aleo starts an amazing spin-off of the Nashville Assassins series with PUCKS AND BOOKS, the first book in the Knoxville Bears series. The Knoxville Bears is the new AHL team for the Assassins. We are introduced to the team in HEAVY SHOT (Nashville Next Generation #7). This is Louisa McDavid’s and Ciaran Carter’s story.

Dirty Pages Bookstore owner Louisa McDavid is the granddaughter of the Knoxville Bears team owner, Dan Davenport. Louisa is also the sister of Austen McDavid from HEAVY SHOT.

Ciaran Carter was a prospect in HEAVY SHOT and sent down from the Assassins to the Bears. He is named the first captain of the Bears. He frequents Dirty Pages and is enamored with Lou. He does not know her affiliation with the team.

Lou has scars literally and figuratively from her past. Her sisters and her were brought up in a cult. Her grandfather helped them escape. As a result, he can be overprotective of the girls. Louisa suffers from nightmares from the things she endured.

Toni Aleo does a great job with this spin off. As always, with her books, it is skillfully written and entertaining. It is a heartwarming read. Ciaran and Lou are perfect for each other. I look forward to reading additional books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
