Marie James scores with BACK AGAINST THE WALL (Lindell #1). Recently divorced hockey star Chase Woodson retired and headed back to his hometown, Lindell, Texas, with his twin boys, Cale and Cole. While there he is helping his dad with the family business, Wooden It Be Nice hardware store.
He needs a nanny to help with his boys. The only person that is available is his former neighbor, Madison Kelly. The problem is for some unknown reason she hates him. Madison has also recently moved back to town after her fiancé betrayed her.
BACK AGAINST THE WALL is a heartfelt and entertaining read. The characters are dimensional and growth throughout the story. Lindell is a small community where everyone knows everybody. They believe in supporting the locals and staying away from major chains. I like Madison and Chase. Both had bad experiences with their exes. Madison is great with the boys. The two face interesting obstacles. Being a husky owner, I love the puppy.
This is the first book that I have read by Marie James. I enjoyed her writing style. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
