My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I have been anxiously awaiting Slava Yegorov and Zoe Pfister story. We first met Slava and Zoe in Jean-Michel Vander and Daisy DeSantos’ story (VAN, Sidewinders: Generations #4). They have been mentioned in a few other books. Slava, Van, Zoe, Daisy, and Eden initially met at a nightclub in Paris. At the time, Slava was playing in the KHL, and Zoe had just finished her undergraduate degree. Zoe was left at the altar in her previous relationship. Slava proposed to her, and she turned him down. The two have been fighting since.
Fast-forward to ROUGH SHOT: Slava is playing for the Fort Lauderdale Knights. Zoe is in graduate school in Switzerland. Neither one has gotten over the other. Kat Mizera did a great job with this story. It had unexpected obstacles and interesting twists. I love that it crossed over with some of Kat Mizera’s other series. There is not a dull moment in this story.
If you have not read Kat Mizera’s other books, I recommend at least reading VAN before this story. Honestly, I recommend reading all Kat Mizera’s books in order. They do frequently intertwine with other novels, and they are all good. I am looking forward to Sloane and Johan's story next, CHEAP SHOT I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
