My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Jennifer Sucevic lights the lamp with HATE YOU ALWAYS (Western Wildcats Hockey #1). In this story, Ryan McAdams and Juliette McKinnon grew up next door to each other. Their families are friends. Ryan even plays hockey with Juliette’s brother Maverick. However, Ryan and Juliette avoid each other.
They are both entering their senior year at Western. Ryan decided to play his senior year for the Wildcats instead of playing for Chicago in the NHL. To his dismay, there is a new hockey coach that he does not see eye to eye with, and his future career in the pros might be at risk. Juliette is a premed student that has done nothing but study. She comes across a bucket list she created before entering college. She has not crossed off one item from her list. After a drunken night, Ryan discovers Juliette’s list and offers to help her complete her goals.
Jennifer Sucevic does a great job with this story. I love the characters. They are genuine and likable. They face interesting obstacles, and they grow throughout the story. Ryan comes up with some creative ways to cross items off the bucket list. HATE YOU ALWAYS was a heartfelt and enjoyable read.
This is the first book that I have read by Jennifer Sucevic. I enjoyed her writing style and want to continue reading this series. In addition, to other books written by her. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
