Down in Flames (Hot in Chicago Rookies #2) by Kate Meader Review

Down in Flames (Hot in Chicago Rookies #2)Down in Flames by Kate Meader
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kate Meader heats things up with DOWN IN FLAMES (Hot in Chicago Rookies #2). In this story, NHL prospect, Hudson Grey, uses a gay dating app to lose his virginity to a hook up, Jude Torres, while on a road in Chicago. A year later, Hudson is traded to the Chicago Rebels. Fate brings him back together with Jude, who is now working for the Chicago Fire Department.

Kate Meader does a fantastic job with this story. Hudson and Jude are both likable characters. Hudson is a couple of years younger than Jude. He is socially awkward. When he came out to his previous team, he had a bad experience. He then moves to the Rebels, who are a more progressive team having Cade Burnett, the first out player in the league (UNDONE BY YOU, Chicago Rebels #3). Jude had a rough past and is focused on making amends. He has a habit of sabotaging relationships. The two have great chemistry and are attracted to each other but get their signals crossed. Jude agrees to show Hudson around the gay dating scene in Chicago.

DOWN IN FLAMES is a heartfelt and enjoyable read. The story was skillfully written. There are interesting circumstances. It is a great addition to the Rebels/Hot in Chicago world. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
