Elise Faber lights the lamp with BLOWOUT (Breakers Hockey #6). Single mom/Waitress Julie (Jules) Blackstar has been serving the Baltimore Breaker’s professional hockey players at their favorite restaurant CeCe’s for years (and through numerous books). She has been befriended by the team and their significant others. Defenseman Luca (Cas) Castillo has had a crush on Jules and finally decides to make his move.
I’ve been looking forward to Cas’ and Jules’ story. I was not disappointed. Both Jules and Cas are known to have bad “pickers” when it comes to dating. That is until they finally decide to date each other. It is not an easy road. Cas has a crazy ex. Jules has had a rough past and struggles as a single mother, student, and waitress. Her ex is a hockey player, so she is not ready to jump right in with another player. Jules has pretty much always been on her own. In contrast, Cas comes from a large loving family. He is patient and determined to win Jules over. He is amazing with Jules’ son Ethan.
BLOWOUT is a heartfelt read. It is a wonderful addition to the Breakers Hockey series. I would like to see a Sierra Hockey spin off with stories about Lake Jordan and Nate Miller. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
