A.M. Williams scores with OUR BEST SHOT. Recently retired NHL star Alex Cameron returned to his hometown. There he becomes the new coach of the Evergreen Ridge High School hockey team and substitute teacher. Teacher liaison, Aurora (Rory) Logan, shows him around. He is attracted to Rory not realizing she was a couple of years younger than him in school and the sister of a high school hockey teammate. Simultaneously, they are both dealing with their exes.
I like Alex. He is looked up to as a hometown hero. He’s the same guy as when he left. He is humble, not getting all the hype about himself. Rory is a great heroine. She had a crush on Alex when they were in school. She is a famous author under a pen name. Only a handful of people knew her alias.
The story is skillfully executed. The characters are credible and well developed. There are interesting conflicts and turn of events. This is the first book that I have read by A.M. Williams. I enjoyed her writing style and would pick up another book by her in the future. I recommend this book to people who enjoy small town and sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
