My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Gina Azzi is heating it up with THE HUSTLER (Boston Hawks Hockey #8). In this story, Sophia Carpenter meets Theo Lawrence (aka Eddie Sims) in Maui. They have an amazing time together. She discovers he was lying to her about his identity. Feeling foolish and played, she leaves without saying good-bye. Months later, Sophia moves with her stepbrother Jesse when he is traded to the Boston Hawks; the same team that Theo/Eddie plays for.
Gina Azzi does a great job with this story. Theo had his heart/trust broken in a previous relationship. In the hockey world, he goes by his middle name and mother’s maiden name, so people do not know who his parents are. Sophia also had relationship issues. She is a survivor of childhood leukemia. Her father went to prison for a good reason, but it always seems to affect her relationships.
THE HUSTLER is skillfully written and has a great plot. The characters have thought-provoking issues to overcome. It is a hard book to put down. It is a heartwarming story that had me smiling and crying. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports and /or second chance romances. It is an excellent addition to the Boston Hawks Hockey series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
