My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Mary Morano hits it in the net with SNIPE (Mooseheads Hockey #2). Moosehead hockey defenseman, Justin Samson, was a firm believer in not having a serious relationship in college. Then he was paired up with scholarship student, Rebecca (Becca) Addington. They needed to work on a semester-long project together that involved them sharing their sexual experience for a paper. Then things get more awkward after they have a one-nightstand that leaves Becca pregnant. The story takes place at Monroe University.
This is one of those books that continues to improve as it progresses. I like that the story is told from both Justin’s and Beca’s point of view. Justin was adopted by his birth mother’s sister and husband. He has some unresolved issues about his adoption. Becca has led a sheltered life growing up in Okinawa, Maine. Her parents are strict and worried about appearances. The pregnancy does not go over well with them.
SNIPE is a heartfelt and entertaining read. Both characters grow a great deal during the story. I love how Coach Benning and his girlfriend Ellen took Justin and Becca under their wing. I found Justin’s hat obsession amusing. The baby shower was entertaining. I recommend this story to people who enjoy hockey romances and/or unexpected pregnancy romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
