Hate Me Under the Mistletoe (Romancing the Rink #1/ Heller Brothers #6) by Kelly Jamieson Review

Hate Me Under the Mistletoe (Romancing the Rink, #1)Hate Me Under the Mistletoe by Kelly Jamieson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kelly Jamieson lights the lamp (and the Christmas tree) with HATE ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE (Romancing the Rink #1/ Heller Brothers #6). Amy Heller feels like she is not living up to her families’ standards and decides she doesn’t want to face her successful family over the holidays. She opts to spend the holidays alone at a friend's secluded mountain cabin. Unfortunately, it was also unknowingly loaned out to Ryder Long, who she cannot stand.

Amy comes from hockey royalty. She is having a tough time. She just discovered her boyfriend was cheating on her and going after the same dream job with the Vancouver Vipers NHL team. Plus, the women’s hockey league she played in folded the year before. Ryder is a good guy. He is a workaholic. He started Green Earth Consulting a few years prior. He billeted with the Heller’s for two years when he played major junior hockey in Winnipeg.

The two get snowed in at the cabin. They had some misunderstandings, which are revealed in this story. Ryder loves Christmas. He helps Amy heal and get into the Christmas spirit. HATE ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE is a heartwarming story that is full of Christmas cheer. I do recommend reading YOU HAD ME AT HOCKEY (Bears Hockey, #2). This is Amy’s brother’s Josh’s story. Events from that book are referenced in this book a few times. You could follow the story without it, but it is an excellent book and worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
