Piper Rayne gets a hat trick with book three in the Hockey Hotties series, FAKING IT WITH #41. This is Ford Jacobs’ and Lena Boyd’s story. Ford’s father has been pressuring him to quit hockey and join the family business, Jacobs Enterprises; especially now that he is a single father. Ford wants nothing to do with the family business. They stick a deal, all he must do is get married to Lena Boyd, the Jacobs’ family PR rep. Unfortunately, they don’t exactly get along. The story primarily takes place in Florida and New York.
Piper Rayne does a great job with this story. It was entertaining and believable. Ford is a starting right wing on the Florida Fury NHL team. He had a partying reputation. Once he becomes a father, he did a 180. I love that he wanted to raise his daughter, Annabelle, on his own without a nanny, since he feels like he was raised by his nannies. Lena is the families PR rep. A lot of her time had been cleaning up Ford’s messes. The two have an interesting relationship. They both wrongly judge each other. They are attracted to each other and have great chemistry. The story had interesting obstacles and resolutions.
FAKING IT WITH #41 was skillfully written and compelling. It is an excellent addition to the Hockey Hotties series. I recommend this book to people who enjoy hockey romances and/or fake engagement romances. I look forward to Ford’s sister Imogen's and Warner Langley’s story, book 4, SNEAKING AROUND WITH #34. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
