Heartwood (Speakeasy Taproom #2) by J.H. Croix Review

Heartwood (Speakeasy Taproom #2)Heartwood by J.H. Croix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

J.H. Croix heats things up with HEARTWOOD (Speakeasy Taproom #2). Isabella (Belle) Dunn accepts a job as a chef at the Speakeasy Taproom gastropub and brewery in Vermont. When she is introduced to the general manager, she is stunned to discover that it is her college hookup, Tyler (Ty) Connor.

Belle is an admirable heroine. She was extremely driven in college. Belle suffers from Bipolar Disorder. She is embarrassed by a manic episode that happened in her past. She started over becoming a chef, ending up at the Speakeasy Taproom. Ty was a senior in college, when was Belle was a freshman. He was expected to become a professional hockey player until he had a career-ending injury. I appreciated that these two both had situations that lead them on an unexpected path in life. I loved that they were given a second-chance romance. They were the perfect people to help one another heal. I adored the kitten and its relevance in the story.

This is the first book that I have read by J.H. Croix. I enjoyed her writing style and would happily read another book by her. HEARTWOOD is a fantastic addition to the Speakeasy Taproom series and Sarina Bowen’s The World of True North. I recommend this book to people who enjoy second chance romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
