Bad Teammate: A Hockey Romance by June Winters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
June Winters’ (Dallas Devils #3) is oh so good. Veteran NHL player, Derek Reaves, offers to live with rookie Russian phenomena Aleksander (Niko) Nikolaev. The problem is he doesn’t know a word of English. Niko’s sister Katerina Nikolaeva visits from Moscow. Thankfully, she is a Russia translator. Unfortunately, Derek is attracted to her, and she is off limits. This contemporary sports romance is Bad Teammate suitable for adult readers.
I really enjoyed Bad Teammate. Katerina is a likable heroine. She made a lot of sacrifices for her brother. She is talented and has a good heart. Derek is a great guy. He is older and has not played much of the last two seasons due to injuries. Katerina coming into his life makes him realize there's more to life than hockey. Niko’s character adds some interesting conflict to the story.
Bad Teammate is an excellent addition to the Dallas Devils series. It is skillfully written. It has exciting hockey scenes. It has romance and drama. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances. It can be read as a stand alone, but I do recommend reading the entire series. The characters from the previous books are in this story as well. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
