Rookies Do It Better: Book 1 in The Minor League Mayhem Series
by Heather C. Myers
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Heather C. Myers scores with ROOKIES DO IT BETTER. Jack Ruby has been in love with his best friend, Alec Sinclair’s sister, Lily. He hasn’t acted on his attraction. Now that the three of them have moved in together. Lily is being blackmailed by her ex-boyfriend, and Jake is not going to tolerate that. This story takes place in Newport Beach, California.
Alec and Jack are hockey players on the Newport Beach Seagulls. Lily is a student at the University of California. Jack came from a rough home life. As a result, he is a fighter. He frequently sought refuge at Alec’s house growing up. Jack and Lily have both had crushes on each other. It’s a good plot.
I like that Jake and Lily get an opportunity to pursue a relationship. He loves Lily and wants to look out for her. I appreciated Seraphina Hanson’s influence on Jake. Andrew was a piece of work that caused some interesting conflict in the story. The story was a quick and entertaining read. I am interested in reading the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
