Winning It All (Hometown Players #4) by Victoria Denault Review

Winning It All (Hometown Players Book 4)Winning It All by Victoria Denault
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Victoria Denault created another sensational book in the Hometown Players series with book four, WINNING IT ALL. Yoga/nutrition instructor Shayne Beckford and NHL defenseman Sebastian Deveau met at the grand opening of Shayne’s brothers new state of the art fitness center and have a one-night stand. One night isn’t enough for Sebastian. Due to multiple bad experiences, Shayne, wants nothing to do with hockey players. Good thing she has no idea what Sebastian does for a living. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Seattle. It is suitable for both new adult and adult audiences.

We met Sebastian in book three when he was at a party flirting with Callie Caplan and annoying his teammate Jordan Garrison’s brother, Devin. I really like Sebastian. He has a great personality. He is persistent and determined. I love that he is studying architecture and interior design. I like his relationship with his sister, Stephanie. I love that he breaks Shayne’s dad’s hockey record.

I can understand why Shayne dislikes hockey players, even though I thought she was being unfair by stereotyping. Her dad is a piece of work, definitely not a good role model. I like how supportive she is of her brother. Shayne is a smart and principled. I appreciated that she would not accept her father’s money. She and Seb have terrific chemistry.

I like Shayne’s friend Audrey; I think it was cool that she relocated to Seattle with her. I was really glad that Jordan Garrison and Jessie Caplan from book one, were in this story. Jessie has a lot in common with Shayne and becomes a good friend.

Victoria Denault does a fantastic job with both her character development and plot. The characters have a lot of depth, and they grow throughout the story. The plot is believable and heartfelt. There are some interesting obstacles throughout the story. The novel is well-written, and it flows well. Even at 283-pages the book was a fast read. The story has a cute ending. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, ON THE LINE, expected to release on December 6, 2016.
