SHIFT (Mackenzie Grey #1) by Karina Espinosa Review

SHIFT (Mackenzie Grey, #1)SHIFT by Karina Espinosa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Karina Espinosa’s Shift is an amazing start to the Mackenzie Grey Series. Lone Wolf, Mackenzie Grey, never met another wolf until she was kidnapped by the Brooklyn Pack. She is exposed to a supernatural world full of politics that she did not know existed. This contemporary PNR takes place in New York.

Kenzi is a great heroine. She is bold and brave. I think it is impressive that she is an intern for the NYPD. I love that Kenzi doesn’t let the wolves push her around. Her roommate, Amy, is great. She is loyal and a good friend. Her ex-boyfriend, James, is an idiot. She can do so much better than him. I do, however, respect his grandmother. I love Jonah Cadwell. He is caring and kind. He has a wonderful carefree attitude. Sebastian Steel makes an excellent serious alpha. I enjoyed the chemistry/tension between Mackenzie, Jonah, and Sebastian. Lucian is a fascinating character. I like how he helps Mackenzie.

The plot was carefully thought out. I like how all the different events tied into one another. It had a little of everything: romance, drama, crime, mystery, pack politics, and humor among a few. I am excited that I already have the second book and will immediately be starting it to find out what happens next. This was the first book I read by Karina Espinosa. I was impressed by her creativity and writing style. I will definitely continue reading the series and other books by her.
