INTERFERENCE
Pilots Hockey #3
Sophia Henry
Releasing June 7th, 2016
FLIRT

“Sophia Henry tackles real issues that tug at your heartstrings,” raves bestselling author Rachel Harris. Now, in this sweet, sensual Pilots Hockey novel, a young single mom falls for a damaged coach pulling double-duty as a cop.

Linden Meadows doesn’t back down from anyone, especially if her family’s involved. So when her little brother’s new hockey coach benches him in the middle of a game, Linden lets him have it. She also notices that the coach is way hotter than she expects, but Linden won’t let herself get burned by another athlete. Been there, done that—and had a kid at seventeen to show for it.

When Jason Taylor isn’t taking abuse from hockey moms, he’s patrolling the streets as a member of the Bridgeland PD. After Jason pulls Linden over for speeding, he begins to see that there’s more to her than a big mouth . . . or a lead foot. Their chemistry leads to good company, intense conversation, and an intimacy that pushes beyond the boundaries of friendship. And yet Linden’s decision to keep her now three-year-old son, Holden, is a painful reminder to Jason that his own mother gave him up for adoption.

Linden’s sure she’s found the man to round out their family. But when Holden’s deadbeat dad forces his way back into the picture, Jason starts to back off. He needs time—to heal, to grow, and to love with all his heart.

Sophia Henry, a proud Detroit native, fell in love with reading, writing, and hockey all before she became a teenager. She did not, however, fall in love with snow. So after graduating with an English degree from Central Michigan University, she moved to North Carolina, where she spends her time writing books featuring hockey-playing heroes, chasing her two high-energy sons, watching her beloved Detroit Red Wings, and rocking out at concerts with her husband.

Interview

Please welcome INTERFERENCE author Sophia Henry to Diane’s Book Blog.

Thank you for having me! Especially after my Stanley Cup Finals bracket blew up in the first round. :)

You and me both...

What is your favorite part of the story, INTERFERENCE?

My favorite part of the story is the “fight” scene with the mascot because it’s a fictional retelling of a true story. Ask my husband about that one… :)

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

I would want to be friends with Kristen Katsaros (KK). She is self-confident, full of life, outgoing, positive, and kind, but she still has insecurities that make her real. She would be a blast to hang out with, but also keep it real and give me a sift kick in the rear when needed.

What inspired you to write your first book?

Russian hockey players of the 90’s (Sergei Fedorov, Pavel Bure, Alexander Mogilny, Slava Kozlov) and hormones. Seriously, think back to all the crushes you had growing up. Athletes, rock stars, actors. My way of pretending Sergei Fedorov and I could ever be together was to write a story about it. And so my career was born.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

This is an unedited sample from UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, Pilots Hockey #4, where Pavel Gribov and Kristen Katsaros (KK) meet on a singles cruise.
(**Please excuse any grammatical errors, typos, and/or misspellings, as this is from an unedited draft**)

So I did what any smart girl who wants to avoid from her friendly stalker would do, spun around and ran the opposite way, putting more distance between us.
Note: When self-proclaimed “smart girl” is unfamiliar with the territory where she is running, closing her eyes is not the best idea. Because within three strides, I smacked into another runner.
Not a light, whoops-sorry-I-bumped-you collision. A head-on, semi-to-semi crash, where both bodies lay crumpled in a pile of twisted burning limbs.
Burning, not only because the scorching Caribbean sun pounded on us from above, but also because the other semi had the body of a Greek god.
No joke.
As a good Greek girl, on a singles cruise set up by my Greek Orthodox church, paid for by my straight-off-the-boat-Greek parents, I knew Greek gods. And the hunk of muscle I’d knocked into was Adonis in the flesh.
Instead of scramble to my feet, my gaze froze on his face. Particularly on the sexy scruff dusting his upper lip and jawline. His twelve o’clock shadow, was a distinct contrast to the absence of hair on his chiseled chest. Even the stream of sweat rolling off the tip didn’t detract from his perfectly sloped nose, nor did the red undertone in his pale skin, flushed from running in the heat.

What book are you reading now?

The Retribution of Mara Dyer. Young Adult is my favorite genre.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

I prefer e-books because I can carry so many of them with me at one time. That being said, if I love a book, I will buy it for my real-life bookshelf.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you! A million times Thank You. I wish I could personally thank every single person who has read any of my books. And even more thanks for following me on Facebook or Instagram and tweeting to me. It’s so easy to put a book down and go to the next. We all have busy lives, so that extra minute is amazing. And when a fan tweets me or writes me a message, holy cow, I’m over the moon!!! I’m dancing around my house. Seriously. I never thought anyone would do that! Ever. And I appreciate every single word.

Who is you favorite real life hockey team?

The Detroit Red Wings! #LGRW
