Playing the Game A Renegades Novel by Melody Heck Gatto: Interview

Playing the Game
A Renegades Novel
by Melody Heck Gatto
Genre: Sports Romance, Contemporary Romance

Amazon     Apple     Barnes     Kobo

This book is Tyler's story. Trying to get a grip on his life and career since Gia turned his life upside down.

The star player. The chosen one. Tyler Kidd ruled the hockey league. He was driven hard by a hatred for losing. Yet behind his on ice persona he was damaged. Betrayed by the one he loved, he battled his demons with alcohol and women. One fueled the other and spiraled out of control. Losing his spot on the team was not on Tyler’s agenda, until it was. Faced with ruining his career, he had one chance to make things right and not lose the one thing he lived for. Hockey.
Charged with taking hold of Tyler’s career, Paige Martin never dreamed her new job as Renegades PR assistant meant cleaning up after his mistakes. She never imagined she would see a side of him he showed to no-one. And she definitely never thought she’d end up in his bed.
She was everything he never knew he needed and he was everything she knew she should never touch. Lines blur, careers are on the line. But what happens when you have no other choice than playing the game?

Melody was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband, and son. She’s a dog lover and recently losing her two 15yr old girls (dogs) don’t be surprised to see a new doggie enter their lives soon (maybe two). After years of begging for a cat, she finally let her son adopt a kitten (even though she’s allergic!) A house just isn’t a home without pets.
The whole family are avid Pittsburgh Penguins fans and like going to hockey games when they get the chance. Having met some of the players has fueled her interest in writing about them and creating wonderful stories.
Melody has loved writing since she was small, in school she never met a creative writing assignment that she didn't love. She is lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who encourages her to write. When she was laid off from her job of 14 years, he was supportive about letting her stay home and take care of their son. During that time she discovered hockey-romances and found a renewed love of reading as well as a passion for writing.
She spends her spare time reading hockey romances. At holiday time she really enjoys any romance about Christmas. When it is the hockey off-season, she enjoys swimming and spending her days out in the sun. Basically if she’s not writing or reading, then she’s doing something that has to do with hockey!

Interview

Please welcome Playing the Game author Melody Heck Gatto to Diane’s Book Blog.

How long did it take you to write Playing the Game?

Believe it or not, only about a month.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?

Tyler Kidd or Dominic Zanetti

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

Paige Martin.

What is your favorite book that you wrote?

Playing the Game

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I can’t give away too much because it’s not really written yet, lol. But the next book is about Dominic Zanetti, Renegades back-up goalie. He’s funny, kind, sweet and a total flirt. He’s got lots of tattoos and is not shy about showing them off.

What do you love most about hockey?

I love that the guys are not only great athletes, they really seem like stand-up and down to Earth guys in real life.

Who is your favorite real life hockey team?

Pittsburgh Penguins

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I appreciate my readers giving this new sports romance gal a chance! Each character I write about has a special place in my heart and it means the world to me that you like them. I try to make my on ice and player interaction scenes as close to real life as possible so you feel like you’re sitting in the stands. I am truly flattered that you read my books. I love meeting new people so if you haven’t checked me out on Facebook or Twitter, please do.
